For our next September event we welcome back Meg Clothier.

The new novel from the author of the Sunday Times bestseller, The Book of Eve, The Shadow of the Solstice is a devastating feminist reimagining of Arthurian legend set in the dark and dangerous years after the Romans left Britain.

'Nin is joining the gilded world of her sister's husband โ€“ a powerful man known only as the Bear. It's midwinter and there's victory to feast. And where better than at the Hall high above the mists of the Lake?

Why is the Lake so unsettled?

The bonds of love and ambition once united the Family. But as night falls and the shadows lengthen, dark secrets and unruly passions threaten to rip it apart.

What is the strange crying only Nin can hear?

Torn between loyalty and desire - between rage and fear - Nin must fight to the death to uncover a terrible truth.

Who will live to see the sun rise?'

I know this will be a popular read with so many of our Liznojan customers, book your ticket ASAP.

September is coming, and that means events are back at Liznojan and at Ashley Court. ๐Ÿ™Œ

Join us on September 23rd for an evening with the award-winning author of All My Wild Mothers: a lyrical, tender story of creating a wild apothecary garden on the islands of Orkney.

With the years of early motherhood and elderly caregiving over, Victoria faces a time of change. She and her husband decide to take a leap, moving hundred miles north of everything they know to the Scottish islands of Orkney, where the winters are long and the summers filled with light.

In an unfamiliar landscape, Victoria instinctively returns to the work of growing, setting out to transform her scrappy backyard into an apothecary garden by the sea, inspired by Orkney's folklore and ancient landscapes.

Shaped by tides and storms, wild plants and seaweeds, she creates a biodiverse backyard sanctuary filled with microhabitats, wildflowers and edible herbs. Here she crafts teas, tinctures and balms shaped by the surrounding soil and seas.

As the year closes, Victoria finds belonging not only in the garden she has nurtured, but in the landscape that has quietly embraced her and become home.

Join us this Friday at Liznojan, between 11am and 1pm, for a free Bibliotherapy session with the wonderful Naomi!

๐Ÿ“š What is Bibliotherapy you ask?
Bibliotherapy is the use of books and reading for the enhancement of someone's wellbeing, to explore the individual relationship to reading as a therapeutic process.

Naomi completed a Bibliotherapy course with Exeter College and Exeter City of Lit last year, and she's very generously sharing her time with us again. Many of you will recognize her as a close friend of the bookshop, she's a fountain of bookish knowledge and a very compassionate listening ear.

Each session should last roughly 10 minutes, no need to book in advance. See you there!
