SnapLok designed, engineered and patented the original ButtonLok system back in 2001 within the US, since then other rotary power sweeping companies have either copied or modified and then claimed as their own. SnapLok created the power sweeping industry more than 15 years ago and have brought their SnapLok equipment to professional chimney sweeps in the UK, Ireland and all over Europe. The SnapLok range includes flexible power sweeping rods made of solid nylon in 8mm, 12mm, 15mm and 18mm in thickness, various sized rotary heads and brushes, birds nest removers and tar/creosote removal heads, plus a range of adaptors for other rod and brush types. SnapLok also provide a full range of rotary power sweeping equipment for biomass and pellet heating system flues. Rotary Power Sweeping also sell our own range of professional chimney sweeping equipment and accessories to make the job of chimney sweeping easier and cleaner, this includes heavy duty denim hearth sheets, floor runners, fireplace props, torches and mirrors, gaffa tape, stove magnets, register plate magnets, glass scrapers and carpet overshoes. One kit, every flue size, no weak spots

Sweeping a 10 metre open flue takes the right mix of rods, not just a big bag of them. The Max Power Kit covers 4" flues right up to large open chimneys, using combinations like 3 of the 15mm rods with 7 of the 18mm rods to build out the length you need.

You get flexible liner rods in 8mm, 10mm and 12mm, plus the 12"/300mm SnapLok Bullet head and the 24" Death Star Whip Head for stripping tar, nests and Creaway residue.

The Double Button connection locks a full rod set together in under 30 seconds, and dual buttons mean no disconnection risk mid-flue. Rods are colour-coded by size and quadruple crimped for corrosion resistance, with no single lead rod to wear weak over time.

Get stoves sweep-ready before the first cold snap

Multi-fuel stove season is nearly here, and a rushed sweep with the wrong kit leaves tar and creosote exactly where you don't want it: in the bends.

The SnapLok Open Fire Kit covers this properly. Fifteen and eighteen millimetre solid nylon rods, an 18" power whip and a 24" power whip, plus soft mole brushes in 14" and 17" for scraping back deposits without scoring the flue liner.

For pellet stove work specifically, the SnapLok Pellet Stove Sweeping Kit is built for the job, and if you're running a SootDevil vacuum, the Stacker System keeps your hose carrier organised on site rather than trailing across a customer's hearth.

Don't overlook containment either. A cyclonic separator ahead of your vacuum keeps soot out of the motor and extends its working life between services.

90cm isn't an arbitrary length. It's the length we settled on after watching thinner rods fail.

Go longer at 12mm and the rod loses rigidity, starts to flap in the flue ("liner slap"), and eventually snaps under stress.

90cm keeps it flexible enough for tight bends, stiff enough to hold its line through a 90 degree turn, and it'll take on 3" to 6" flues across solid fuel, oil, gas and biomass without pitting like aluminium does.

Why 90cm rods beat longer ones on tight flues

Ever wondered why your 12mm rods keep snapping or slapping about mid-sweep? It usually comes down to length, not quality.

Thinner rods lose rigidity the longer they get. Run a 12mm rod too long and you get liner slap, stress on the joints, and eventually a snapped rod halfway up a flue.

That's why SnapLok's 12mm Solid Nylon rods are made at 90cm. Slightly stiffer, still flexible enough to get round 90 degree bends, and built to handle 3" to 6" flues across multifuel, oil, gas, and biomass systems.

Each fitting is quadruple crimped with solid stainless steel double buttons, so no pitting or corrosion like you get with aluminium ferrules on solid fuel flues.

Soot in your workshop air? Not with H14 filtration

Fine soot particles are the stuff that ends up in your lungs, not just your customer's hearth. That's why every SootDevil vacuum in our range runs an H14 HEPA filter, backed by a 3 stage filtration system that keeps decontamination straightforward and extends filter life.

The whole range is CE compliant, PAT tested, and built to BSEN 60335-69:2012 ANNEX AA.

A few things worth knowing before you choose a model:

Locking safety clips on the drum stop accidental opening and contaminated material spreading in transit.
The closed HEPA-FLO filter bag means you're not opening up a drum full of soot to empty it.
Independent luminated motor switches on the twin motor units, so you can run one motor or two depending on the job.

There's a size and configuration for most jobs, from the small single motor units right up to the trolley system with larger waste tanks. Every model comes with a 12 month return to base warranty.

Signs your flue liner needs replacing, not just a sweep

A sweep can only do so much for a liner that's already failing. If you're seeing cracked sections, gaps at the joints, or soot building up faster than it should between visits, sweeping alone won't fix the underlying problem.

Here's what to check before you reach for the rods:

Flaking or crumbling liner material after a clean, rather than just soot coming away
Visible daylight or gaps between liner sections when you inspect with a camera
Repeated tar or creosote build-up in the same spot, which often points to a damaged joint letting cold air in

Cheap rod systems reuse the same white lead rod every sweep. It takes all the strain, weakens over time, then snaps inside the chimney.

SnapLok kits rotate every rod through that job. No single weak point. No white lead rod, by design.
