Join us for our monthly evening of folk tales, drawing and fantastical imagery! ✨

📅 Friday 16th October, 6–8pm
📍 Folklore Centre Library, Todmorden

🌿 October’s theme: The symbolism of hair

No experience needed — just come along, doodle, experiment and have fun! 🎨

Spaces are limited, so advance booking is recommended.

I’ll be having a little down time in September with the imminent arrival of baby number two 😍 but in the mean time -

I’m handing over the Folkdraw reigns to Holly for an apple 🍎 theme on Friday 18th September! Reserve your spot on the website!

Stone heads are also available for collection, for anyone who came to the Stony Gaze talk and workshop.

And I also have a piece on show at the Todmorden Information Centre centre! ‘Lady Sybil’s Doe’ is in ‘Todmorden: Tales of the Peculiar’ until the 30th September. Go check it out ☺️

We had a fab Tuesday eve at Drink drawing the Derbyshire tale of the Crooker, a malevolent ash tree spirit, and the three flower fairies who saved a good man’s life!

Todmorden Folkdraw usually happens on the 3rd Friday of the month, but this month we’re heading to the Wilde Volk talk with Sooxanne Wolfe instead! ✨

It’s at the same place, for the same price — so why not come along, bring your sketchbook, and have a doodle while you listen? 👀✏️

Pics 4–6 are from Sooxanne’s brilliant exhibition, currently showing at In a Land in Hebden Bridge. Well worth a look!

July’s Folkdraw is now available to book!

£5 per person, includes materials and facilitation.

This month’s theme is Rushbearing: a centuries-old custom rooted in the days when church floors were bare earth or flagstones, when fresh rushes were strewn across them to provide warmth, comfort, and cleanliness. This developed to the rushes being carried in a magnificent rush cart, creating a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together in celebration and merriment.

No experience is necessary. Folkdraw is a relaxed, welcoming social space to doodle, experiment, and enjoy creating strange and fantastical imagery together.
