Now the temperature has come down I can tell you about our new range of fluffy chunky wool. It felt wrong to do so when it arrived during our last heatwave.

This is Dream Cloud, a dream to make, a joy to wear.
Dream Cloud is a beautifully soft chunky wool blend yarn with a light, airy feel.
With hazy, dream-like colour transitions, this yarn creates stunning effects as you knit or crochet, bringing a soft, blended look to every project.
Light yet warm, Dream Cloud has a lovely drape and gentle bounce, making it perfect for chunky sweaters, tank tops and cardigans, with stylish details like neck ties adding a modern twist.

Composition: 66% Premium Acrylic, 18% Polyester, 16% Wool Care: Wash at 30°C. Tumble dry on low heat. Cool iron.

If you come down to the shop this week you’ll be greeted and served by this lovely young woman. Meet Louka who is covering while I am away on holiday.

Please don’t ask her difficult knitting questions and be patient while she finds things. She is one of the most positive people I know so do expect to leave with your mood lifted.

EDIT: We have lights again😁

We are having a little bit of “issue” at the shop today. This has meant one corner is temporarily blocked off so customers don’t slip on the wet floor. Due to water coming through a light fittings the fuse has flipped so no ceiling lights. Until the problem upstairs is fixed and the electrics dry out we’ll be on minimal lighting. Luckily the sockets are still dry so the lamps and spotlights are keeping us illuminated.
The shop is open and will remain so unless things get worse. Please ask for help if you need extra lighting and I’ll come running with my phone light.

Stylecraft had added new colours to the Highland Heathers Aran collection.
We now have the Lichen (green) and Mull (blue) in store which increased the beautiful combinations you can produce.

Our new (second hand) A board has one completed side. Phew 😮‍💨.
It has been a labour of love to design and draw. Multiple layers of paint and varnish to seal the previously damp damaged surface. Then the nerves that come with getting the idea out of your head and onto the board without messing it up. One spelling mistake was caught while it was only pencilled in.
Tomorrow I may manage to complete the other side and then everyone can get the message that haberdashery is available at Wonderfully Made alongside the local makers work.

Due to water sneaking into the shop during the heavy rain recently, I have had to clear and repaint the wall on which we display posters for community events.
Before I refill it I am officially putting my foot down and saying “ No More AI Posters”.
As a business selling the work of local and British artists there is no way I can encourage the use of a system that has stolen creatives’ artworks in order to churn out images with no artistic integrity. The end result look awful and does nothing to promote the event.
There are plenty of programs on which you can build an image for your poster and there is a local illustrator who is offering to do the job for you for just a tenner at the moment (The Robyn’s Nest) So tap into your own creativity to promote your future events rather than farming it out to a soulless, water guzzling, billionaire misogamist owned corporation.

Welcome our newest stockiest Joy McMillan Glass.

Every piece of piece of Joy McMillan Glass is individually made by hand in Saltburn-by-the-Sea using traditional lampworking techniques.

Rods of coloured glass are melted in a flame, shaped while molten, and then kiln-annealed overnight for strength and durability.

The frosted finish is created by tumbling them with water and grit until they feel like velvet and look like sea glass.

Started this week with a trip to DMC’s trade day in Wakefield. They put on great opportunity to explore their brands and new ranges. I mainly buy Sirdar yarns from them, but they also cover DMC, Rowan, Hayfield & Wool and the Gang.

Over the coming months you will reap the rewards of the visit as new yarns and patterns arrive.

Bradford Socks are back in all sizes and new colours 🌈
After being depleted for a while the socks are restocked. Just in time for the summer walking season.
