One of my favourite parts of being a wedding photographer is getting to work alongside some incredibly talented local suppliers scattered around Calderdale.

The flowers at Ian & Adrienne's wedding were absolutely beautiful and brought so much colour and personality to the day. It's amazing how much thought and care goes into every bouquet and buttonhole, and they photographed beautifully from the morning preparations right through to the reception.

🌻 Taking care of your flowers 🌻

With warmer temperatures you must ensure you are giving your flowers the best care to keep them fresh and lasting longer 💐

🌼Clean your vase and fill with fresh water every couple of days.
🌼 Cut stems at an angle so they can drink properly. When flowers are taken out of water and not re cut they create a sealant to try and trap in the moisture they already have, meaning they cannot drink any more water. When you recut the stems this is opening up that sealant so they can drink again.
🌼 Keep your flowers out of the heat. Do not put in windows or next to direct sunlight or heat.
🌼 Remove any blooms that are looking past their date. Different flowers have different vase lives. Some flowers last up to 5 days and some can last for two weeks! Removing dead blooms means your other flowers can thrive for longer.
🌼 If your flowers come in any packaging always remove this and get them stems recut and into a fresh vase of water. Packaging is just for presentation, let those flowers breathe!
