Philpots Allotments Philpots Allotments Christmas Trees open on November 21st! Philpots Allotments are located on Green Belt Land in Hildenborough.

In line with this status, they provide an area for outdoor leisure, which people can use to grow their own fruit and vegetables. They are managed in such a way as to maintain the natural value of the land for which it is recognised. Management practices are intended to preserve the site's biodiversity and enhance the habitats provided for local wildlife, as well improving the aesthetic value of th

e landscape. The pond was cleared to provide additional ecospace and has been successful in doing so. It is hoped that attracting frogs will abate the need for gardeners to use slug pellets on their plots. We are currently constructing bird-boxes to be installed in the protected woodland surrounding the site, and the new barn has unexpectedly provided a nesting site for a kestrel- whose main diet is provided by slugs on the plots- a fantastic mutualism between users of the site! As the only allotments in the Hildenborough area, they provide a unique leisure facility and an opportunity for local people to enjoy the outdoors.

I am sorry to say we have only one tiny tree left! Despite huge efforts to restock, it has been impossible to find more supplies.

As we know lots of people like to come to visit the shop, we will be open as usual tomorrow (Wednesday 17th December 9-4.30pm.)

We will then reopen for Friday19th, Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st 10am - 2pm after which we will be closed until next November.

We would like to thank all our customers for a great fun season. Happy Christmas to all and wishing you a peaceful New Year.
