What Makes a Great Showa?

One of koi's Go Sanke big three. Showa is an amazing traditional addition to a pond.

When choosing a Showa, there are several factors to consider. It depends entirely on the age of the fish.
​
Showa runs on black, red and white, but a Tosai is judged on shape. For a mature Hi Showa, it’s on colour balance, and a Kindai Showa on a completely different, white-heavy pattern.

There are many points that make a great Showa, but most importantly, do you love the look of the fish?
