Good news! The Hub Club is riding to The Church House Inn this Wednesday night. Bad news is there will be no off road ride. However we will have our bimble road ride and our fast road ride on offer. Look forward to seeing you!

We had our final Tea and Tinkering session of the summer last week. But, they will return in early September with thanks to funding from totnestowncouncil who continue to support this project year after year.

The weekly bike maintenance sessions, from 10-1 on Tuesdays, are for people who have a physical and/or mental health condition. Participants learn how to repair bikes or strip down old bikes for parts. It’s all about bike recycling and learning and meeting new people, washed down with tea and biscuits.

The Totnes Bike Hub will be 5 years old this September, can you believe it!
As part of our celebrations, we’ll be participating in a panel at totnes_cinema for their showing of ‘The Fastest Bicycle’, a documentary about an attempt for the World Human Powered land speed record (which is an eye watering 89.5 mph)

Today our volunteer mechanics spent the morning cycling instead of repairing bikes! And what a beautiful ride it was. We enjoyed the route out of town along the River Dart, before heading through Staverton and meandering through the Devonshire lanes to Broadhempston.

Refreshments were enjoyed by all at the greentablecafe in Dartington before we headed back to Totnes.

It’s so good to down tools and enjoy the delights of cycling in good company. If you’d like to join the bike hub as a volunteer, come and have a chat with us!

Here are two very different bikes that our volunteer mechanics have serviced this week. We receive such a wide range of bikes and are so very grateful to the people that donate them to us.

Today a local man gave us a road bike that his wife ‘hadn’t used for 5 years, it’s been sitting in the shed. Do you want it?’

And then we get the Strida, the eye catching, fun to ride belt drive folding bike below. Designed in the UK, the Strida is quirky and fun to ride. Are we going to sell it? We’re really not sure…but do come along and check out our wide range of bikes. We’ve currently got 20 for sale, mtb, road and hybrid and if your name is Harriet, then this beautiful step through bike is the one for you

Our Wednesday night pub rides are back!!!! We have three types of rides available for riders who are happy cycling 10+ miles in the South Hams.

Ride 1. Party Pace Road - chilled bimble around the local lanes around 13 miles

Ride 2. Party Pace Off Road - chilled green lane exploration suited to gravel and mountain bikes

Ride 3. Road Ride - 20miles around the local lanes and roads at a spirited pace. For experienced road riders.

E-bikes welcome.

Our pub destination next Wednesday will be at the fabulous COPPERHEAD ALES
