Stone Wolf Guitars is a two-man team of dedicated and passionate guitar & music lovers. The company was founded on the idea of providing solid, reliable and beautiful custom guitars to professional and non-professional musicians alike. All of our guitars are 100% hand made, using no CNC machines or automation. We love making these instruments and want to keep the build process as "hands on" as pos

sible. We're not afraid to experiment with build materials and our resin/wood hybrid series is a perfect example of this. While we believe wood should still be at the heart of a guitar, we don't shy away from adding synthetic or otherwise non-traditional elements to our instruments. Our customers are encouraged to be as involved as they wish, and we'll keep you updated at every stage of the build. Customers are also more than welcome to visit our workshop to see the build as it progresses. We hope you love our guitars as much as we do and we're always willing to take on your dream guitar and make it a reality.

I had this beautiful ~1977 Sobel Cittern come in for a full strip and refinish. It had some heavy wear marks and plenty of dings, dents and scrapes that its owner wanted to try to have repaired or removed. Overall I managed to get about 90% of the damage out and gave it a nice new protective gloss finish. Swipe to see all of the before and afters!

At nearly 50 years old, this instrument sounds incredible! It was a privilege to work on and help give a new lease on life to.

Always nice to try spraying something new! I had this electric violin come through for a refinish from gold to gloss black. It was interesting how similar, and yet totally different it was, compared to spraying a guitar. Many Thames to the owner for the job, and suppling the last two pics of it all reassembled!

Hi Everyone,

I've just finished this very special commission. This guitar was built in tribute to my customer's late brother, who's favourite film was the 1994 "The Crow". As such, this build features real crow feathers, held together with a replica ring, from the film, cast into the top with resin.

To go along with that, he chose to have LED uplit inlay, featuring the emblem from "The Crow" spanning across the 10th to 14th fret. A huge thank you goes to Swannell Guitars for their help CNC'ing this,

Last but not least, It was a great honor to be asked to inlay a vial of his late brother's ashes into the back of the headstock, making this guitar a truely priceless instrument.

Here's a bit of motorbike spray work I did last year. A tank and side panels for a custom Yamaha build. The client went for a deep gloss black with silver metal-flake and a Yamaha logo in dark metallic grey.

It's always a nice change of pace to spray bike parts, and even better when I can see the finished bike! There's also a sneaky cameo of my Honda Blackbird, that I re-sprayed, in the background!

Hi folks,

Here's some of the pics of the newest build. I actually started this nearly two years ago, but it had to be repeatedly put on the back burner, so it's quite a relief to see it finally finished!

Certainly one of the more awkward models to design and construct, but I've grown to really like it. It has the potential for a lot mixing of textures and colours. I don't have a name for it yet, so if you have any suggestions, feel free to chuck ideas at me.

Cheers!
Mike

Hello folks,

Long time, no see! There's a lot of news so here's pre-emptive TL:DR - My main job has switched from full-time custom building to doing re-sprays and repairs. I spray motorcycle parts as well as guitars and I have a new website online - www.stonewolfguitars.com I'll try to post a bit more frequently than once every year, but expect to see a lot more refinishing work and not always guitar related stuff.

Read on if you want the long version...

I know I haven't been around for quite a bit, I ended up burned out on social media and being online in general, but I do realise that I'm very much shooting myself in the foot by not sharing my work. As such, I thought I'd check in and let you all know what's been going on, as I am still active in the guitar world, just in a slightly different way.

I do still build, but my main gig is now doing refinishing, repairs, set-ups...etc. Re-finishing, and spraying in general, is now what takes up 90% of my days. I don't just spray guitars but also motorbike parts and other small scale automotive bits. It's satifying, suitably tricky and is slightly more reliable work than full time custom building was.

As I said, I do still build and have just finished something I've been working on for the last year or so. Building just takes longer now as I'm busy spraying most of the day. While I do miss building full time, I sort of prefer this set-up as it allows me to build a bit more freely without having to constantly worry that stuff MUST SELL! If I make a weird looking guitar that nobody likes and doesn't sell then it's no longer the end of the world.

Anyway, enough rambling & navel-gazing, here's some scattered examples of a few of the refinishing jobs I've been doing over the last year, some guitars, some bike stuff. I'll post up the newly finished build in the next few days and will make a concerted effort to be more active in general.

Cheers everyone! 🤘

Hey everyone! Just finished this rather head-
turning Hammerhead commission!

This was commissioned and designed with a high degree of versatility in mind. It has an HSS pickup configuration with a Freeway 10 position switch, which give this thing a very wide array of tonal options!

I hope this will serve its new owner well for many years to come! 😎

Happy New Year everyone!

This is some great news to kick the year off with! I sponsored last year's Metal 2 The Masses - Kent by building a guitar, as a raffle prize. This was to raise money for the venerable The Sophie Lancaster Foundation foundation. The results are in and the campaign raised a, fantastic, £2750! Very chuffed to be part of that and thanks again to all the Metal 2 The Masses - Kent team for giving me the opportunity!
