My first serious railway book (bought by my parents in 1965, when I was 12) was by this legend......Colin Gifford. It was Decline of Steam and cost 63 shillings (£3.15) a lot of dosh, equivalent to almost £80 in today's money. So when I see copies of this book for sale I just have to buy them, especially when it's a first edition. One came in this week and will be kept, as sadly my personal copy is a first reprint. Here is the man celebrating his 90th birthday in June. I have met and chatted with him once at Kidderminster Railway Museum A huge "thank you" Colin for all your wonderful images and your different approach to railway photography.
