Yesterday we learned all about the Japanese art of Kinusaiga. We used scraps of colourful fabric to create designs. Poking the fabric in was really satisfying!

🌻 An update on our proposed Gardening Club! 🌻

Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone who commented, messaged, or emailed about our recent post exploring a new over-40s gardening group. We’re so grateful for the enthusiastic response!

We want to clarify the exact vision for this specific project so we can make sure we meet everyone's expectations. Our goal is to create a tailored, therapeutic, and supported space specifically for older adults (40+) with learning disabilities, neurodivergence, additional support needs or dementia, along with their families or carers.

Because we want to ensure this group provides the right environment, structure, and pace for our SEND community, it won’t operate like a traditional, high-activity retirement social club or advanced gardening class.

Who this group is for:
🌱 Adults aged 40+ with SEND or neurodivergence.
🌱 Peer members who want to garden alongside, chat with, and share a friendly space with adults of all abilities.
🌱 Individuals who genuinely look forward to a quieter, gentler, and deeply inclusive daytime routine.

Are you retired or semi-retired?
You are very welcome to join us as a member! This group is ideal if you are looking for a slower, gentler pace. It is a wonderful space to work right alongside others and enjoy a supportive community.

If this sounds like the right fit for you or someone you care for, please get in touch by commenting below, messaging us, or emailing [email protected].

🌻 Help Us Grow Something New! 🌻

We're exploring the idea of launching a gardening club specifically for adults aged 40+.

While there are many activities available for younger adults, we know that opportunities can become more limited as people get older. We'd like to create a welcoming space where people can enjoy gardening, socialise, learn new skills and spend time outdoors.

This could be ideal for:
🌱 Retired or semi-retired adults
🌱 Older adults with SEND
🌱 People looking for a friendly daytime activity
🌱 Anyone who enjoys gardening or would like to give it a try

The club would offer:
βœ… Gardening activities and projects
βœ… Fully accessible venue and facilities
βœ… Tea and coffee after each session
βœ… Optional cakes, snacks and additional drinks available to purchase

There would be a cost per session, and we'd need enough interest for the club to be viable.

If you, a family member, or someone you support might be interested, please comment below, send us a message or email [email protected].

🌻 Let's see if we can grow something special for our over-40s community 🌻

🌳Did you know that right now is the absolute best time to plant shrubs?🌳

With the soil still warm from summer and full of moisture from recent rainfall, conditions are perfect for root establishment. Planting now gives your new shrubs a massive head start to grow strong, healthy root systems before winter sets in, setting them up to thrive.

We have a huge variety of shrubs in stock right now, perfect for adding structure, privacy, or bursts of colour to your garden.

πŸ’‘ Pro-Tip for Planting: Want to give your new shrubs the ultimate advantage? Pick up a packet of mycorrhizal granules when you buy! Dusting the roots with these beneficial fungi creates a secondary root system that dramatically boosts water and nutrient uptake, ensuring your plants establish quickly and burst into growth in the spring.
