Did you know it takes around 30–40 cocoa beans to make a single chocolate bar, depending on its size and cocoa content?
Each bean begins its journey inside a colourful cocoa pod growing on a cacao tree. Once harvested, the beans are carefully fermented, dried and roasted to develop their distinctive chocolate flavour.
We source Rainforest Alliance Certified cocoa, meaning the cocoa used in our chocolate supports more sustainable farming practices. The Rainforest Alliance works with farmers to help protect forests, improve biodiversity, promote responsible land management, and strengthen farming communities through training and better agricultural practices.
When you unwrap your favourite Josh's Chocolate bar, you're enjoying the result of a remarkable journey that starts thousands of miles away and involves the dedication of cocoa farmers, chocolate makers and our team here in Cornwall.
Next time you enjoy a piece of chocolate, take a moment to think about everything that went into creating it. Those little cocoa beans really do become something rather delicious!
