And now for something completely different! You didn’t know that our upholstery courses could equip you with the skills to tackle one of these I bet. We don’t get asked to restore vintage prams that much, and precisely because of that, we couldn’t resist taking it on. This one pre-dates the classic Silver Cross prams but is much of the same style. The wooden pram body had been home to a rats nest whilst kept in the owner’s barn for a number of years (full Hazmat attire required!) and exhibited some bodywork damage as a result. Missing numerous bits of hardware in addition to full reupholstery of course, liaison with a most helpful pram museum in Holland helped us identify and source the correct items to complete the restoration.

One week in May. I thought this stool seat frame was unusually heavy for its size! No fewer that 15 papers of various titles from the Daily Express and News of the World to the Evening Standard from 9-16 May 1953, the month before Queen Elizabeth II was crowned, were enclosed within!
