One of my latest restoration pieces. It is an 'AS 1220/1221', Swiss made 'DOM WATCH, Geneve' from the 1940s (possibly early 1950s). Cleaned, oiled and a new mainspring... job done 😁

Well, here we are ... A 180 year old watch lives again. A new chain and a few other recycled parts from deceased Verge Fusee pocket watches. A splosh of new grease and oils. Not polished on purpose (it just rubs away good silver!)

Mission accomplished 😁

A quick update on the 1840's pocket watch ... Found a fairly important issue! A little sprung click lever 2mm long, which has corroded away and broken 🙄

I must remember to post more often!! The 'click' part of 'click and turn' is all about watchmaking ... In case you were unaware!

This watch, in the pictures, was sold by Albert Winser (watch & clock maker) of East Grinstead on August 28th 1841 for 6 shillings and sixpence.

It has a broken fusee chain and a dodgy click ... But I think it should live again! I'll keep you posted 🙂

A neat looking 1968 Omega Geneve with a 613 movement .... These pictures are before cleaning and oiling (basically, the disassembly process). I will post the finished article once I have received the mainspring and completed it. What you can't see is the disintegrated o-ring which was meant to be the water proofing, the broken mainspring and the congealed oil from years of not having been serviced. A hairy fiber which was wrapped around the hairspring, now knitted into a Christmas tank-top 😜

Wood turning a small gonk army took a few days. Some watch projects took a whole load more 🙂 57 x 10cm gonks .... A watch project on my next post.
