EM Communications will showcase the Violet Audio next-generation professional mixing platform, dMix128, at PLASA Show 2026. Set to redefine professional digital mixing, dMix128 has been designed from the ground up as a network-native audio platform that separates the audio engine from control and automation, creating a flexible, future-ready solution for live, broadcast, and installed sound applications.
Bringing together an international team of audio engineers and design professionals with decades of industry experience, Violet Audio was founded on the belief that the mixing experience should be as intuitive and expressive as the music itself. Its approach is centred on bridging the gap between technical complexity and creative flow, combining deep professional audio expertise with intelligent control, AI integration, and a new approach to system design.
At the heart of this philosophy is dMix128, a professional mixing platform and high-performance digital audio matrix designed to give engineers the processing power and flexibility to handle complex systems without compromising audio quality or responsiveness. Rather than relying on a dedicated console surface, dMix128 separates processing from control and automation, giving users greater freedom over how and where the system is operated. Engineers, venue staff and presenters can all control the same mixer at once using browsers, Q-SYS, Crestron, TouchOSC or automated systems. Its deterministic architecture keeps every parameter synchronised in real time, allowing multiple users and control systems to work together without conflicts.
Native Model Context Protocol (MCP) support extends that flexibility to compatible AI tools, helping users streamline configuration, diagnostics and routine workflows. For example, engineers can use natural-language commands to identify active AES67 streams or configure processing for a vocal channel, reducing the need to navigate multiple menus or separate network tools.
Behind this flexible control environment is a high-performance audio engine. Its 128 x 128 DSP engine operates at 96 kHz, with each channel independently routed and processed, while latency remains as low as 0.3 ms. AES67 and MADI are included as standard, with Dante available via an expansion card, giving users the flexibility to integrate dMix128 into a wide range of professional audio environments.
Designed to operate as either a standalone mixer or part of a larger networked audio environment, dMix128 also offers extensive scalability. Multiple units can operate with sample-accurate synchronisation, with the current architecture supporting up to four units for as many as 512 DSP input and 512 DSP output channels. Built-in cloud monitoring gives integrators and operators remote visibility of system health, network performance, processor utilisation and thermal conditions, helping them troubleshoot remotely, reduce unnecessary site visits, and identify potential problems before they affect operation.
Violet Audio marks a new chapter for sound engineer Danny Olesh, who played a key role in the development of Soundcraft’s Ui Series mixers. The underlying technology behind the Soundcraft Ui24R was developed in Australia by Olesh and members of the Violet Audio team more than a decade ago. That experience has now been channelled into a new platform designed to challenge conventional console architecture and create innovative opportunities for intelligent automation, collaboration and remote operation.
The dMix128 will be distributed exclusively in the UK and Ireland by EM Communications. “We have been specifying and installing Soundcraft Ui mixers in nightclubs and bars for years,” says Ed Manwaring, Owner of EM Communications. The UK-based sales and system integration company specialises in professional sound, lighting, video equipment, and project management for live events and permanent installations. “Through our long-standing connection with Danny Olesh, we were given exclusive distribution rights of the dMix128 – the natural successor to the UI series. It has considerably more channel capacity and an extensive array of interfaces that make it ideal for corporate AV, broadcast, touring rigs, and large venues where interoperability and future‑proofing matter.”
