A great big thank you from the Abbey Music family for making the last 29 years so special. Today was our final day of trading, and we were so grateful to everyone who stopped by to make the most of our sale, and to those who just popped in to say goodbye.
It was an emotional day, and one we’ll always cherish.

With our last day of trading coming up next weekend, we wanted to take the opportunity to thank everyone again for the kind words and well wishes following our recent announcement. We have raised almost £3000 on our JustGiving page, and the support has meant the world to Dave and his family. The page will stay open for a little while longer, so if you have not donated and would like to, the link is in our bio.
In case you missed it, Abbey Music’s final day of trading will be on Saturday 5th September from 10am - 4pm. We are still open to offers to buy out the lease, and serious enquiries can be sent to [email protected]

Wow. We don’t have the words to express how humbled and honoured we have been by the reaction to our announcement yesterday. We knew that people liked Abbey Music, be we could never have expected the outpouring of love, support and fond memories from so many.
We have been absolutely blown away by the kindness and generosity of everyone who has donated to our JustGiving page - 70% of our target raised in less than 24 hours. Thank you doesn’t even begin to cover it.
All the money we raise will help Dave and his family navigate the effects of his treatment and get him back on his feet again once he comes out the other side.
Please keep sharing yesterday’s post and the donation link - we don’t have a big following, so your shares mean we reach more people who might be able to help.

To our amazing customers,

It is with a heavy heart that we share with you that Abbey Music will be closing down next month, after almost 30 years of trading.

Our owner Dave was recently diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing aggressive treatment, which has led to this incredibly difficult decision.

To mark the end of this era, on SATURDAY 5TH SEPTEMBER from 10am - 4pm, we will be holding a final sale to clear the shop. All remaining items will be discounted - everything must go. Even if you don’t plan to buy anything, we’d love for you to pop by just to say farewell.

It has been such a special journey and we are devastated that it is coming to an end, but we have loved it more than we can put into words. Abbey Music has been at the very heart of Dave’s life for three decades, and at the heart of Abbey Music has been you, our customers. On behalf of Dave and all of us at Abbey Music, thank you to every single person who has walked through our door and shared their love of music with us. Thank you for trusting us with your passion; we couldn’t have wished for more.

Our one priority is to ensure that Dave is able to successfully complete his treatment and recover, and we hope you will join us in wishing him well. To ease some of the financial pressure caused by this situation, we have set up a JustGiving page; if you have the means to donate, it would mean the world to Dave’s family as they support him through this very difficult time.
