Here in Ullapool this week it is the Annual Art week, organised by An Talla Solais . Here at Ullapool Bookshop we are delighted and honoured to showcase a window display of beautiful Artists sketchbooks here until Sun 13th Sept.

These very different books show the beginnings and inner workings of several Artists and are well worth looking at their different styles.

We are open 9am to 5.30pm daily and Sunday from 10am to 5pm.

Another wonderful Calendar for 2027 is Mountains of Scotland by Ross Davidson Photography . Also now in stock at Ullapool Bookshop .

Well, here we are. Time seems to fly by so quickly and it feels like only days ago that I was happily bumbling up to the Highlands with six weeks of freedom laid before me. This image seems rather fitting to represent my time in Scotland this summer. Wet, wet, grey and wet. What I would have done for a day or two of English heatwaves! It’s pretty amazing how the Northwest Highlands seems to just magnetise the clouds… Or perhaps it’s me?! But I will not complain! I had really incredible moments too. Some new mountains explored. Reunions with lots of old favourites. A few splashes of spectacular light. Memorable expedition and many nights camped on the summits.

I’ve now got a different kind of mountain to climb - images to process, articles to write, videos to (at some point?!) piece together, calendar and print orders to sift through (thank you for those!) and multiple other projects that I’m working on - all exciting stuff going on behind the scenes.

Looking forward to sharing some of this with you in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!

Yes, we've had more nice bright spells between some super-heavy downpours over the past few days. When dropping off some calendars at the Ullapool Bookshop recently, I spotted the wee white hoose over the water, caught in a ray of sunshine and set against some very moody, rain-soaked mountains.

New Opening Hours!

Ullapool Bookshop is now open from:
Monday to Saturday 9am to 5.30pm
and Sundays
10am to 5pm

Many thanks to our booksellers for allowing the shop to be open in the evenings from May to early Sept. Time now to reclaim their evenings back!

Mamy thanks indeed to Author, Historian and Naturalist Charlie Bingham who captivated our capacity audience at Ullapool Bookshop on Thursday night. is a fascinating tale in 12 lessons about different species, about life and how important it is to just stop at times and just be.

A beautiful start to the day as I opened the doors at Ullapool Bookshop this morning. The sun is still shining, and the sky is blue!

We are open this week every day from 9am to 9pm and 10am to 5pm on Sundays too.
