ππ A Huge Congratulations to Suzy! ππ
After 16 years of aspiring to become an Occupational Therapist, Suzy from the South Team has officially graduated and achieved her goal through the Occupational Therapy Apprenticeship programme delivered in partnership between Wiltshire Council and UWE.
Reflecting on her journey, Suzy shared:
"After 16 years of wanting to study for a degree and qualify as an Occupational Therapist, I was thrilled when the Occupational Therapy Apprenticeship was launched in partnership between Wiltshire Council and UWE. Starting the course at the age of 40 brought a mix of excitement and apprehension, and there were certainly moments when I questioned what I had taken on. However, those doubts were outweighed by the sense of achievement that came with successfully completing each module and receiving strong results.
It was fascinating to learn the theory and science behind a role I had been carrying out for many years. My biggest challenges were adapting to new placement settings and completing my dissertation, but perseverance paid off. I achieved Certificates of Excellence on two placements and was delighted to receive a First-Class mark of 80% for my dissertation.
The apprenticeship has been a whirlwind of emotions, growth and learning, and I could not be prouder of what I have achieved. It has been a fantastic opportunity to develop my knowledge, skills and confidence, and I now look forward to starting my qualified role in a new team this September, helping more customers and supporting the Occupational Therapy vision for Wiltshire Council."
We are incredibly proud of Suzy and all she has achieved. Her dedication, resilience and commitment to both learning and supporting others is truly inspiring. We wish her every success in her new role this September! ππ
