This evening we were busy fixing vacuum cleaners, pressure washers, led lights, sewing machine.

Customers popped in to collect their lawnmower and sodastream.

We are still struggling for space and look forward to a few larger items being repaired to clear workspace. It’s surprising how much space you need to hold all the parts when an appliance comes apart.

A few items have been sitting for months waiting for collection. The notification email might be in your junk folder. If you’ve handed something in and it’s been months then get in touch. We have been sending out reminders but they may all be going to the same email folder.

Testing an extension lead this morning we identified a number of issues.
If your electrical cables or appliances look like this, please seek help immediately. This is a risk for fire and electrical shock.

Other photo was the inside of a food mixer that had broken motor mounting points. Sadly not repeatable. Again, if something rattles inside an electrical appliance e and it’s not working as you expect. Please please turn it off and seek expert advice.

Recent items handed in are: vacuum cleaners, salt pot, toy, shredder.

We are still working on a few items that are taking longer than expected to repair. Some awaiting parts, others proving challenging to get into and there’s always the odd item that’s got some complex issues that need time to work through and identify.

It’s amazing the variety of items we get a chance to repair. Toys, coffee machines, vacuum cleaners, towel rails, guitar leads, etc.
This toy needed a minor internal repair and some replacement rockets which we found online.

Note: Pressure Washers
We seem to have quite a few pressure washers arriving recently and the most common fault is split plastic. Often caused by leaving water in the machine and storing it over winter where frost will get at it. The water expands which then splits the plastic. So if you have a pressure washer and want it to last (other brands fail in the same way), please empty it fully and store it somewhere that won’t go below 0DegC.

Linlithgow Shed are having another tool sale this Saturday as part of the Artisan Market.
Lots of donated tools that are surplus to requirements and being sold at great low prices. They also have scarifiers, lawnmowers, pressure washer and much much more.

All proceeds help to cover the costs of the shed such as heating, lighting, power and biscuits!

The Repair Shop will be open if anyone wishes to visit and chat about items that you have that might need repaired.

Phew. We were spinning plates a bit yesterday with many items coming in. Each needs to be logged, tagged, our records updated and put away ready for the next volunteer repairer to take on the challenge of finding out what the right solution is.

We’ve recently received :
Clothes dryer, 5 Guitar Amplifiers from the Academy along with broken guitar leads, a lawnmower, side table, kitchen extractor, disco light, vacuum cleaner, radio and a luggage tag.

We managed to fix:
A DVD player, clothes dryer, vacuum cleaner, pressure washer.

Parts arrived for other repairs so we will be busy again this evening.

As always, thanks to everyone who uses our Repair service and thanks also for the online Reviews which really help others know the service level we can achieve. Not everything is fixable but our success rate is still over 80%.
