As an 8 year old school boy in 1972, never did Paul Smith our founder of Pre-owned Record Store Day imagine where the purchase with his saved pocket money of Elton John 's Crocodile Rock single, the day he became an Elton fan, take him over the following 54 years after he saw Elton perform in the November 1972 Royal Variety Show oh TV.

Between his first concert at the Southampton Gaumont in April 1979 to his last concert in July 2023 in Stockholm Sweden, Paul attended 80: shows across the world including two of Elton's landmark concerts in Madison Square Garden, New York, Elton's 50th Concert there in October 2000 and Elton's 60th Concert there on March 25th 2007, also Elton's 60th birthday.

In 1998 Paul started the UK's most successful online fan community Elton John Online , initially on MSN and then transferred over to Facebook in 2013 where it now engages with nearly 13,000 active fans across the globe.

In-between all this Paul was invited to attend three EJAF charity events and over time between 1999 & 2023 got to meet Elton personally 6 times.

Paul and his daughters were recognised by Elton's management as superfan's so were invited to be filmed to appear in the Crocodile Rock backdrop video for the 330 date " Farewell Tour" , ironic that this was Paul's introduction to Elton's music all those years ago.

In-between all those 54 years Paul curated a major Elton John collection of music and memorabilia of archival museum quality with some exceptionally rare items in the mix including lots of in person autographs obtained at personal face to face meetings and also stage signings at many of the concerts he attended.

There is so much more to the story such as forming close friendships with prominent Elton John band members.

Now as Paul heads towards retirement the time has come for him to massively downsize his collection to a more manageable size to make any future moves a little easier.

Paul has started to use his own dedicated Elton sales channel Elton John Store formed 28 years ago that has supplied Elton music and memorabilia to 1000's fans across the globe to start to offer items from his own collection as he downsizes.

Check out Vinyl Collectors and Sellers latest " pop up event in conjunction with Gastro Nicks Ltd Deli tomorrow evening.

A great social evening based around food, music and drinks is guaranteed as usual, details below.

A little taste of the French Riviera ... without leaving Wiltshire.

Join us on Saturday 25 July for a relaxed summer evening inspired by the cafés, harbours and markets of the Côte d'Azur.

Choose from a delicious charcuterie and cheese platter or a seafood platter, perfectly paired with a carefully selected range of discounted French wines available throughout the evening (other drinks are also available).

We'll also be joined by Bulb to Bunch with a beautiful pop-up flower shop, while Vinyl Collectors and Sellers provide the soundtrack with a selection of French-inspired music to complete the atmosphere.

There'll be plenty of seating (including some under cover), free parking and a wonderfully relaxed summer evening to enjoy with friends and family.

**** CANCELLED Pre-owned Record Store Day Saturday 13th September The Tipple Inn , Collingbourne Ducis - CANCELLED ****

We are sad to announce that due to the weather the last few days and forecast weather for Saturday 13th we have had to cancel our planned outdoor event.

The ground is badly waterlogged at the moment and with continuing rain forecast today and tomorrow into the evening we have taken the decision to cancel the event and postpone now until the spring.

We had to consider the safety of everyone in making this decision.

Keep an eye out in early 2026 for the new date.

We apologise for the disappointment .

Today the spotlight is on Nia Nicholls who will be performing live as part of her current tour across the south of England.

Fresh off supporting US singer songwriter Dean Friedman Music at his annual songfest in Rugby at the end of August where as well as performing her own set alongside other guests such as Tom Robinson , Dean gave Nia the honour of duetting with him on his 70's smash hit " Lucky Stars " , check out the video below.

As well as Nia performing a set of her own songs on the evening along with well know covers, at Pre-Owned Record Store Day Nia will also be launching her much anticipated new CD at our event where she will be pleased to sign a copy for you after performing her set.
