Happy Sunday beautiful people.

Bangor Festival was a successful one, earlier on this week!

Just thought to share this snippet as I walked round my side of the festival, where I would eventually speak.

Here’s a lovely festival to attend for FREE.

On Saturday 8 August, celebrations begin at 10:30am from Coed Cyrnol Car Park, crossing the Menai Suspension Bridge before returning through Menai Bridge and finishing at King George’s Field, where the festival will run throughout the day with live music, entertainment, food, drink and over 100 local stalls.

I will be there and it sure will be so lovely to see you!

Can I indulge you for dinner sometime this week?

I grilled this chicken with some of my Jamaican Curry Spice up and I have to say it hits a spot!

Let me educate you. Perhaps you think all chickens are chickens…

In the true spirit of the RWAS, I come across all sorts including the ornamental types of chickens, the egg layers, the meat birds and even the various types of egg colours each type of chicken can produce.

Oh by the way, a good deal of what we eat from the shops are Cornish Cross, Leghorn or Lohmann Browns (a type of Rhode Island breed). Let me not confuse. Just feast your eyes on the various types and in your next conversation, I guess you’re permitted to show off yourself off as a sage in poultry.

I hope this appears in your next pub quiz or something haha.
You’re welcome.

Remember last week how I mentioned that I will be at the RWAS Royal Welsh Agricultural Show?

Well it’s day number two and although there’s an element of work involved here as Maggie’s African Twist is perched in the food hall, this feels like a holiday. It always does.

I love the sights and sounds. Everywhere is buzzing, with one thing in common from both the exhibitors and the crowd– that keen interest in the various facets of agriculture, an industry that has really sustained human life.

Don’t shoot me down. I’m not biased for being a stakeholder, but isn’t it interesting that even before regarding the giant of a sector like health, agriculture is really the sector that keeps us alive whether by food or even the basis of our pharmaceuticals?

Food for thought.
We’re not that boring lol

Okay, who else is melting? 🥵☀️

We know, we know — nobody wants to talk about hot, hearty food when the UK is having one of its rare proper heatwaves. But hear us out for a second. 👀

Good food doesn’t take the weekend off just because the sun decided to show up dramatically. This rich, slow-cooked greens stew with toasted bread on the side? Still absolutely hits. Still worth turning the hob on for. Still the kind of meal that makes you feel like you’ve done something right.

So if you’re sat there sweating but secretly craving something proper and comforting this is your permission slip. Eat the good food. Enjoy your weekend. The fan can do the rest. 😅

In my line of business as I travel within our country, I never know what to expect.

Let me explain…

You know that thought of sleeping the night before you visit a new place the next day, where your mind lingers on some sort of presupposed mental image? If you’ve been there before, easy peasy– your mind broods upon that which is already there, but when you haven’t been there before, at most you can rely on the internet to give you a plethora of some solid evidence as to what the place looks like.

The latter I do not always have the time to do and so “I just arrive there”, and I guess that’s the thrill I wanted to let you in… just arriving there.

The pictures you see are from Merthyr Tydfil. Some few weeks ago I had never seen this part of Mid Wales but it was so worth it. Apart from it being such a lovely town of homes, Merthyr Tydfil could easily boast of being one of the most visually striking in the valleys. And no, they didn’t pay me to say this.

Before I opened shop at their food festival, I made it a point to explore where we were, and I learnt something ever so simple but key.

When you know where you’re going, your mind can sometimes be limited to the various things you can get up to. You may even by human nature contain yourself to a routine experience. If you usually would get ice cream from a local shop near a post office, the mind does what it does, you’d probably do that and faithfully call that tradition, but when you don’t have too much information on where you’re going, you get there, look around, push yourself to explore further than you probably would have if you already knew the place.
