We took a few of our English Tree prints out of the Mount Room and into the sunshine to sit in the dappled light under the oak tree, where we often eat our lunch. Framed using our Hadlow Down profile, these antique prints by artist Jacob George Strutt (1784 - 1867) are tactile and warm, with a beautiful grain and just the right touch of antique gold detailing.

The slimline mirrors in our Sussex Collection are endlessly versatile. Like the myriad styles of a classic white t-shirt, these mirror designs can all be beautifully reimagined, with clients choosing to amend the proportions, frame width, and frame and mirror glass finishes to make the designs truly their own.

Today we wanted to shine the spotlight on our Ridgeview Mirror, a beautiful scallop corner design that can be finished in any of our metal, imitation metal, or timber finishes. Scroll to see how three different clients customised the Ridgeview Mirror for their design projects.

In this first design, our client increased our standard size to 1500mm W x 1100mm H, electing to hang it in a horizontal orientation. The sleek slimline frame is our standard 6mm wide tray frame, and is made of beautiful brushed bronze metal.

This next design was a little more bespoke...

In addition to changing the size to an elongated 750mm W x 1900mm H, we also finished it in an extra dark imitation antique brushed brass, which matched the decorative metal rings that were affixed to the top. To balance the proportions of this very tall mirror, the width of the tray frame was increased from our standard 6mm to a chunkier 15mm.

A much more manageable size, this charming 350mm W x 600mm H Ridgeview mirror is made with our standard 6mm wide tray frame. Finished in bronze metal, we love the way the frame and the scooped scallop corners catch the light. 🤎

We have more Ridgeview Mirrors in production here in the workshop and can’t wait to show you more variations of this wonderful shaped mirror design.

Let’s talk about TV Mirrors. 📺

Made using dielectric mirror glass, TV mirrors are a fantastic and increasingly popular way to conceal a television. As you can see in these photos, the dielectric mirror glass is partially transparent, allowing light to filter through it from the back whilst remaining reflective from the front.

These mirrors are always installed on-site with the television, and it’s imperative that they are fitted to be completely sealed against light so the glass appears reflective when the television is off. When the television is turned on, the light from the screen comes through the glass and ✨voila!✨ your mirror is now a TV.

This particular TV mirror is gilded in white gold, with a lovely beaten section running along the centre of the rounded frame. Made for a hospitality project in Scotland, this has got to be one of the most elegant ways to conceal a black screen. 💫

Did you know that Dementia is the leading cause of death for both women and men in the UK? is working hard to change that, and on Sunday October 11th, Abbie will be running The Royal Parks Half Marathon to help raise money for this fantastic organisation that is working hard to raise awareness around the risks of dementia and working hard find a cure.

Our team has been tracking donations in our Fundraiser Frame for Abbie’s run and we’ll be pushing hard towards our goal of raising £2,000 now that the finish line is in sight. For many of us, August is a time to slow down, but this past month in the PI workshop was absolutely bustling! Before we get too stuck into the back-to-school vibes, we wanted to take a moment to look back at a very busy month in the workshop. 🖼️🪞✨

What does one call a group of bobbins, we wonder?

A babble? A brilliance? A blip? Framed for a girl’s bedroom, this babble of bobbin-framed prints will look brilliant above the bed.

Gilding in the heat is such a challenge, and when working with gold leaf, a rogue breeze through a cracked window can literally be quite costly.

But our head gilder was in the workshop early to beat the worst of the heat and did a beautiful job of gilding this white gold beaten frame. 🤍

Fitted with dielectric mirror glass, this white gold tv mirror has now made its way to cooler climates and is now at its new home at a beautiful hotel in Scotland.

We’ve had loads of orders for our painted bamboo mirrors, which have been requested in a whole rainbow of colours. 🌈

From teal to yellow and terracotta to sage, we love seeing the colours our customers choose for these mirrors.

Another head-turning piece that made its way through the workshop was this rounded cushion framed mirror.

The intricacy of the craqueleur finish is revealed upon closer inspection and always inspires some oohs and ahhs from passers-by.

And lastly, a little look at some polished black frames with antique gold beading.

This is a truly classic finish that never goes out of style. 💫

The last few years were a big flush of burgundy, but this year we’re noticing a trend towards the deeper purple tones of the anthocyanin family being used in our bespoke frame and mirror projects. Think aubergine, plum, artichoke leaves, and beetroot. Rich tones that might read as black upon first glance, but have a real softness and a warmth to their depth. Colours like Farrow & Ball’s Pelt, which we used here to make our iconic Chequered Design. Paired with a creamy white, this mirror exudes contemporary sophistication and offers a great alternative to good old black and white. ✨
