Did you know we have a say on the decision about Rosebank until this coming Monday?
I'm not an expert but it's too important to stay quiet on this. We have 4 days to voice our concerns re more drilling for oil and gas, in a public consultation which closes on 17th August.
If you don't feel like you know enough to sign to say you oppose the reopening of Rosebank, please have a quick look at mikaela loach Stop Cambo . Here's a little bit of info alongside the unequivocal scientific evidence we're being warning of. It doesn't feel like it's worth the risk of not signing.. it takes 30 seconds ❤️.

In 2025 drilling at Jackdaw and Rosebank which had previously been granted consent was ruled unlawful. The government position was that more North Sea drilling would not improve UK energy security or have any impact on energy prices. (institute for Government, May 2026). Yet Off Shore Energies UK is urging for a quicker approval process due to the profits they could make.
"It is estimated that Jackdaw could produce 35.8 tonnes of carbon over it's 11 year lifetime..... these figures are dwarfed by the projections for Rosebank - almost 250M TONNES of planet-warming emissions." (BBC News 11th August 2026)
Re the footprint/cost of importing, as well as costs being strictly determined by international markets, private energy companies own and trade these resources globally so they sell UK extracted fossil fuels at global rates rather than offering domestic discount. It also turns out that most of the oil produced from Rosebank would be sent to the Netherlands because the UK's remaining refineries are not equipped to process the heavier type of crude oil extracted from the North Sea.
