Just got the Katran spyder spods. I used a magnet version over a decade ago and was always impressed with performance- definitely better than plastic catch spods.
They arrived - once you open the parcel you see a cool spod and a lovely carbon shaft stabiliser,,,, but you soon realise you need to tie the spod on each time (or leave it set up). I like a clip on my spod braid leader for versatility so here is a mod for the Katran Spyder spod to let you quick change etc
The pics explaining all but basically
1)tie some strong line to the spod (I’m using 100lb)
2) thread it through the carbon shaft and attach the shaft to the spod
3) slid on a crimp
4) leave enough room to seperate shaft
5) crimp to make a loop
6) shrink to make it neat (optional)
Now you have a katran spod you can still store ‘folded’, clip on and off with ease.
