Why do my wax melt sample labels say “Do NOT Eat” instead of “Not for consumption”? 🤔
It’s a question I’ve been asked before, and there’s a simple reason behind it.
Most of us know a wax melt isn’t food. But my samples are packaged in clear wrappers, and they’re colourful, decorative and can look quite tempting to a child or someone who may be vulnerable.
So rather than using the more formal phrase “Not for consumption”,
I deliberately use “Do NOT Eat.”
It’s short, clear and easy to understand at a glance. If it helps prevent even one person from putting a wax melt in their mouth by mistake, it’s worth doing.
It’s also a little reminder that, just like cleaning products or medicines, wax melts are best kept somewhere children and vulnerable people can’t mistake them for something edible. Especially if you’ve got little visitors or grandchildren popping round. 💛
