The shop is closed today (Monday 16th) due to the funeral of a lovely lady I have known for a very long time.

There is certainly something wrong with the world when many decent people are leaving us and bastards like Donald Trump are still going strong. After telling us that he didn't need our help and that America had won the war, he is now saying there is much more to do and asking us to send ships to help the flow of oil. I thought it was all over Donald?

Of the very few people who have been into the shop in the last couple of weeks, some appear to be in need of help. A lady came in on Thursday and whispered: "My friend tells me you sell ci******es."
It took ten minutes to convince her that I didn't have cheap f**s hidden away under the counter. As soon as she left, a man came in and asked where I kept my hairdryers!

And the very next person who comes in and tells me that they are "here for their reading" is going to be leaving £30 lighter and no wiser. I get on average three of these a week. Check the bloody address, dipsticks!

Just a quick thing before bedtime. Donald Trump has said that visitors to the USA will have to show 5 years of social media history before they will be allowed to visit. This is presumably in case anyone has said anything remotely anti-Trump.

So, in case my mind becomes even more feeble than it is, and one day decides that I would like to go to America, I think now is the time to make sure that it won't happen.

Here we go:

Donald Trump is a useless orange moron who is not fit to lead a conga line, never mind a country.
He is a convicted felon. A s*x pest. An inciter of hatred. He is a liar and a cheat. He is so far up Putin that he is almost wearing his trappers hat. He is using his term in office to line his own pockets.

He has the I.Q. of a newt. A fairly thick newt, not one of the clever newts.
This is a man who wanted Americans to inject themselves with bleach.
A man who features in many Epstein photos, but apparently did not know what was going on. Of course you didn't know, Donald. I believe you because your past record on telling the truth is exemplary.

He cheats at golf. He probably cheats at cards. He is untrustworthy, self-serving, loathsome and vile. And a t**t.

There we are - that should see me safely kept out.

It was lovely to see the comments on my last, sad, post. Good to know that Tony's brother, Fred, has seen them too. Also the people who worked with Tony at Burtons for many years - thanks to Dave for coming in to chat about those days.

With the party season almost upon us, Mrs B likes to meet new people, so has decided to book herself all sorts of medical appointments over the next few weeks. As I am the designated driver, this means that the shop is going to be closed on the following days:

This Thursday - 20th November.
Tuesday 25th November,
Saturday 29th November.
Saturday 6th December.

Sorry for any inconvenience, but once she decides to go out, she doesn't do things by halves!

Evening all. Hope everyone is well.

Many of you will have met Tony Heath at the shop, or possibly at a record fair, so it is with great sadness that I tell you that he passed away today.

I have known Tony for over 40 years.

Without his help I wouldn’t have managed to keep the first shop open in Wallasey Village, nor would the second shop in Liscard have survived as long as it did. The current shop also owes him gratitude for his unwavering support. He would always complain about the number of DVDs I had, but then he would tell people to come to the shop if they were looking for a particular film. Every Saturday he would arrive with something for lunch and usually another gift for me.

All he wanted was to be able to get out each day, listen to his Beatles CDs, and watch films in the evening.

It was horrific to see him in hospital during the last few days, suffering a cruel and undeservedly painful time. I take small comfort in having been able to hold his hand and talk to him, even though I’m not sure he knew I was there.

During those 40 years he has been many contrary Tonys!

Sometimes stubborn, quite often miserable, occasionally very funny, one moment miserly - “£1.20 for a doughnut, I’m not getting them again”, next minute incredibly generous, quiet, talkative, opinionated, right-wing, left-wing, liberal, argumentative, agreeable and dependable.

That was Tony.

And I am going to miss him.

Very much.

Just a reminder for people who don't already know - the shop is closed tomorrow (Saturday).

Open on Monday as normal, when you will have a chance to buy some pretty good CD box sets. Beatles, Lennon, Big Star, Doors, Police, Beach Boys, Dr Feelgood, Nuggets, Folk Music, Springsteen, Hendrix, Byrds, Billie Holiday, Stax and more!

Evening all. Hope everyone is well.

Update as promised.

We went to Sheffield on Friday, an easy 2 hour journey there, a terrible 4 hour trip back full of accidents, ambulances, roadworks, temporary lights and lunatics.

However, we did return with Humphrey, who slept throughout the whole ordeal. He has settled in beautifully - he's met many people and dogs and behaved perfectly.

Today was his first time off-lead, playing with his frisbee toy. He seemed to enjoy it!

Evening all. Hope you are well.

Now I know I have just had a week off and that the shop was closed last Saturday as well, but I am afraid I have to tell you that it will also be closed tomorrow (Friday).
This is because we are off to Sheffield to hopefully get a new addition to the household. He is a one-year old 65kg Great Dane named Humphrey(!) who needs a home.
If all goes well, I will post a photo of him over the weekend.

Open on Saturday as normal.

Some help needed - is Humphrey a good name for a Dane? I sort of thought it wasn't, but a few people have told me today that it is fine.
