Carved the beast's head on my wizard staff today. The wood glue and dowel combo wasn't quite strong enough...

So I used the drill press to carefully pre-drill a hole for a 9cm wood screw to aide the glue and dowel in aligning and holding the head in place.

I added a small cap of wood to cover the screw head, matched the grain direction, and added a little beeswax oak polish 😉

Lots of planing and sanding later... The staff addition/ fix is coming along nicely.

I am fixing my wizards staff, which was once a faux shepherds staff. This Halloween I put a hook in the break to hang my Dad's pipe.

But this evening I have put a couple of dowels and wood glue in a connection to part of an old axe handle, which I'll be blending and carving into a beast 🙂

It's necessitated a very finicky clamping solution!

I'm currently playing through The Red Strain DLC in by and loving it. The music is great. Very War of the worlds (extremely fitting given the red foliage and space themes).

It's a marvellous experience of a game and I simply had to further mod this prop with an improved B.A.R.D. logo in vinyl. As ever: Weathering for the win!
