Started my second batch of homemade vanilla extract last weekend. Vanilla is my *go-to* base flavoring in most things I bake and also in most jams I've been making this year.
Made some last year and OMG the flavor idea is out of this world! It may have something to do with the fab vanilla from my childhood home Papua New Guinea. Once I finish using up the store bought vanilla extract I have (it's taking some time because I rarely use it anymore) I'll only ever use my own-made. It truly is that much better tasting. And I know exactly what's gone into it - amazing vanilla beans and vodka. That's it - no additives, no sugar, nothing else.
