They aren’t always this shiny!
The pieces I work on are always in need of a bit of TLC, starting as tarnished old spoons and other quirky little silver finds.
It has to be said that the soldering process really doesn’t do anything to improve their looks, although I love the colours and the definition that come when the silver is heated.
There’s something raw about the look of a newly soldered ring, and the shades of grey and green remind me of the beautiful patina of antique lead and copper garden urns ….
But once polished, the old silver glints and sparkles in the sunshine, ready to be loved again …
Just simple and delightful pieces of wearable history, and we’ll have a few on the stand at our last event of the year, at Dunster Show, on Friday …

This will be our last event of the year, and it’s hard to believe it’s only a week away now …. It’s a delightful event in a stunning setting, below the castle. We’ll be in the Craft Marquee with lots of other superb makers

The most unexpected and wonderful view of tonight’s eclipse from our village church tower…
We have been working all day, getting ready for tomorrow’s Okehampton Show, and hadn’t really given the eclipse much thought, until we realised the light was going from the garden.
The church is opposite the house, so we thought we’d go there to watch from the churchyard, but as we arrived a voice called down from the top of the church tower, asking if we wanted to go up…
It was an opportunity we couldn’t miss, so we climbed the spiralling 98 steps and emerged high above the village, enjoying the incredible sight, with the local bell-ringers…
The friendly welcome, the view and the spectacle were amazing and will stay in our memories for a long time…
What an experience

Something old, something new …..
If you’ve seen us at a show and visited the stall, you’ll know I always say that we look for tired or damaged pieces to work on, and finding this exquisite little spoon made my heart leap.
It’s a stunning Art Nouveau spoon, made by the great Charles Horner Company in 1909, but is critically missing its little amethyst thistle flowers, so it had to come home with me.
I’ve transformed it into a little pendant, and if I’m honest I think I prefer it without the little amethyst flowers …. What do you think?

One of the joys of doing events is buying new pieces from great makers …
This was a favourite from this weekend at Taunton Flower Show, a beautiful tern in flight, by ammoniteironwork …
The movement in it is wonderful, and it fits perfectly in our little courtyard garden…
It almost seems as if it is flying away from the fox, running from behind the chimney on our neighbour’s roof…

Thank you Taunton Flower Show, you’ve been such fun!
The last 2 days in the Artisan Village have been wonderful, and it’s been great to be able to chat to so many people about my little passion, and to see pieces of wearable history go off to continue their stories, in new hands…
It’s a real favourite of ours and we always look forward to it, especially being able to catch up with our neighbours there Sip Shed Devon Lisa Takahashi | Artist Printmaker and The Woodland Witch - this year we’ve danced, sung, and laughed amidst the busy-ness of the show, and it’s been such a joy
We’re home now, everything is packed away and we’re relaxing with a cocktail from the Sip Shed …
Next stop is Okehampton Show on Thursday and then Dunster Show on 21st … it’s hard to imagine that our summer of events will soon be over…

All set up and ready for the next 2 days at Taunton Flower Show
We’re in the Artisan Village with lots of other great makers and wonderful friends too…
Always lots to explore and certainly one of our favourite events of the year
Here, today and tomorrow
