𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐨𝐧 𝐍𝐨 𝟑 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐟𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞 📰

Town councillors have issued no objections to the latest planning application to re-develop 3 High Street – although they have requested conditions.

The planning application for the construction of a new building containing a shop and ten flats and associated external works was discussed at a Planning Advisory Committee on Monday 16th February 2026, featuring input from Ian Frostick, Chair of Feoffees St Lawrence Chapel.

Cllr Phil Keeble explained: “There was a unanimous decision of no objections to the application to re-develop No 3 The High Street. It is important that any new building should fit in within these historic surroundings.

"The committee asked that planning permission is only granted if changes proposed by the Wiltshire Council conservation officer where added as a condition of consent being granted.

"The committee also asked that the developer should incorporate sound proofing to the apartments to minimise sound levels from the newly restored chiming clock bells of St Lawrence Chapel.

"The site is in private ownership and the decision to be made is about the application submitted. If residents have other suggestions they would need to lobby councillors, the site however would be costly to buy and convert, this would be from taxpayers’ money.”

In March 2024, it was announced that the building would finally be demolished after many years of being a blight on the town centre.

The comments from Warminster Town Council are only advisory, any decision on whether to grant planning permission and any associated conditions will be made by Wiltshire Council.
