Ahoy, Me Hearties!

Today, I be bearin' somber tidin’s fer our loyal mates in the EU an' Northern Ireland.

Ye may’ve heard whispers on the trade winds ‘bout new-fangled regulations comin’ ashore on the 13th o' December — the cursed General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR). Turns out, this be a storm brewin’ fer many a year (thanks to Brexit, blast it!), but nary a word reached the ears o’ small traders like us till now.

The Hard Truth:
From the 13th o’ December, after 16 years of trading, we’ll no longer be able to cast our wares across the seas to the EU or Northern Ireland.

The Longer Yarn:
The new GPSR code be replacin’ old safety laws to ensure all goods sold in the EU be shipshape and up to modern standards. While we be all for safe cargo, these new rules be heavier than a chest full o’ cannonballs.

The biggest hitch be that every merchant must have an Authorised Representative stationed in the EU/NI to handle compliance matters. We ain’t got the resources nor crew fer such a post, and the fines be more savage than a pack o’ hungry sharks! So, like many small UK traders, we’ll have to furl our sails when it comes to EU/NI orders.

This curse even stretches to digital treasures. Aye, ye heard right... digital goods be affected too.

What Does This Mean fer Letters of Marque?:
We be heartbroken, mates. We’ve sailed many a tide with our fine European crew, and it pains us somethin’ fierce that we can no longer send ye our prized loot.

We’ll be settin’ our website and Etsy shop to block EU/NI orders after December 10th. Any stray orders that sneak through will be refunded and cancelled, sadly. On Etsy, we hope the marketplace throws a lifeline to small traders like us, so keep an eye on that port just in case.

Fer Our EU/NI Customers:
Unfortunately, we can’t be sendin’ out parcels, like it or not.

If ye’ve got mates or kin in the UK, perhaps they can place an order fer ye an’ pass along the spoils when next ye meet. Or send ye a gift parcel if the winds be fair.

Fer Fellow Small Businesses:
If ye be a UK-based small trader, beware: these regulations apply to ye as well, whether ye deal in physical or digital wares. Best read up on the details mateys.

Wow has it really been over a year since I posted on here. Sorry for neglecting everyone.

We are still going strong and still supplying pirate enthusiasts worldwide with our leatherwork, props and ephemera. We are currently working on the new website and hope to have that up and running before the end of the year.
