Well it’s that time of year again, the annual TT TAKEOVER just to wish mum (you’ll know her as les) a massive HAPPY BIRTHDAY! 🎈🥳
I know she’ll have me for this but I do have longer legs than her so I can run a bit faster 😂
Anyway that’s me done, see you all next year

Hiya,
Just a quick reminder that Tell Tales will be closed tomorrow (Saturday June 20th)
It’s Padgate Walking Day, so Padgate lane is closed from around 1pm - which means a quiet day for TT.
I can’t lie, I’ve been feeling things a bit lately. I absolutely love what I do …& I know I’m not digging a ditch 😂 …but running a business on your own is twenty four seven & sometimes it gets a bit too much.
So I decided to take the day off.
Apologies to anyone who had planned to come over.
I’m going to post a couple of ways you can still support TT even though the shop will be closed.
Once I have planned those posts I’ll be stepping away from the social media for a day or two. However, you can still send a message or email as always - there just may be a little delay in responding.

I have had a lovely delivery from the awesome, talented Wren James! So, now I don’t just have a copy of their fabulous graphic novel but I have signed bookplates, a gorgeous little print & stickers - all to make your book buying a little more special ❤️📚

Thank you so much to everyone who came over to book club this evening. It was lovely to spend time together wishing our Amy a safe & beautiful time for her upcoming birth 🤰

A Brave New World by Aldous Huxley was this month’s book - let’s just say it raised more questions than it answered!😆 If you’ve read it and you call in to TT do let me know your thoughts on it.

Next month’s book is Wyrdwood by Curtis Jobling. We are meeting up in July to discuss this one ❤️📚

Had a lovely couple of hours at Weaverham High School yesterday at their inter-school book quiz! Those children put me to shame with their book knowledge.

The talented & interesting Alice Nuttall was there talking about her book The Zombie Project. She talked about her rationale for creating the story which was completely fascinating.
The book has conservation at its heart - but the way Alice has turned the usual zombie narrative on its head is so well done.
In this version of the world, bees died out thirty or so years previously. Now the main pollinators are death flies & death flies can only grow in dead flesh. So when they lay, they change the people into zombies & the larvae hatch from the dead flesh. Of course this means zombies are a vital part of the world. This completely turns on its head the traditional role of the living dead within a story.
When Merian goes to the city with her scientist mum, and the zombies have them trapped in the convention centre she questions why the usual zombie protocols aren’t being followed. Can Merian and her new friend discover what is going on??

This is not for the sensitive! It’s really well written and doesn’t go overboard with the gore, but it does have a few gruesome descriptions & jump scares!

A great new take on a longstanding villain. A really good read.

Tuesday June 16th 10am until 4pm
*Wednesday June 17th 10am until 2.30pm*
Thursday June 18th 10.30am until 6pm
Friday June 19th 10.30am until 6pm
*Saturday June 20th closed*
Sunday June 21st closed
Monday June 22nd closed
