One of my absolute favourites called in today!
came over to sign some copies of her newest publication Wrong Tracks ( I slipped in a few Gracie Fairshaws too!)
This exciting, fast paced, adventure story fills out the facts we know about the Rainhill Trials in 1829 with such a great story of bravery, cunning & friendship. I really enjoyed it. Particularly if you’re in the North West of the UK, this is a wonderful way to find out about a pivotal time in our history. An absolute must have!❤️📚

Whilst it’s the Easter holidays - your child may be looking for a new read - and I have signed copies - would make a great gift & last longer than an Easter egg! - I thought I’d do a give away. If you follow the page, like & share this post, put your name in the comments ( maybe you could tag someone you think might be interested in entering too!) Wrong Tracks by Susan Brownrigg, a brilliant middle grade read based on the Rainhill Trials. A pacey, exciting adventure story filled with real life history. My favourite kind of book - fiction wound together with facts.
A guided reading set of six for £30 (plus p&p if required)
I only have two sets, so it’s first come first served.

This is one to look out for! Seven year old me would have loved this.
Finders are little creatures who…well…find things! Their whiskers lead them to things that are lost. Maybe a solitary wellington boot, or a chipped tea cup. You have to remember that one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
Max is with his mum helping to pack up his grandmother’s house so that she can come and move in with them. Max is desperately trying to find a memory box that his grandmother had buried when she was a girl. A time capsule to be opened on July 19th 2024. But grandmother’s memory isn’t what it was and despite digging up half the garden, the time capsule is nowhere to be found. Then, she remembers her favourite tree in the forest that belongs to the forest, & after describing it to Max he decides that he needs to go check if she had buried it there. That’s when he runs into Tuftorious Snook! One of the community of Finders that live in the forest. Can he help? And if he does know where the memory box is, will he need to stick to the golden rule: Finders Keepers?!

A great little story, perfect for those looking for an early chapter book, or maybe something that you can read a little of each night before bed. Rooted in the real world but with a sprinkle of magic.
Rachel Chivers Khoo had me with The Wishkeeper’s Apprentice & has weaved her magic for a slightly younger audience with this one. Laura Catalàn’s illustrations bring an extra charm to the book.

I’m here at Tell Tales until 4pm today (Wednesday April 2nd)

In my last order, I received a book that I really know nothing about- how it got onto my order list I have no idea! I have absolutely no knowledge of manga, so I don’t stock it as I don’t know where to start! So how I have managed to put in a book that contains volumes 28.29 & 30 of One Piece…🤷🏼‍♀️
If you know anyone who has need of it, do let me know. It retails at £13.99 but you can have it for £6 - which is less than I paid for it, as I can’t see me getting volumes one to twenty seven any time soon!
