A typical find of a badly wired plug. Live and neutral are too long and the earth is too short so in the event the cables are pulled free from the cable support the earth will then be the first cable to dislodge losing the earths protection from electric shock ⚡️

In 1984 BS1363 was amended with a requirement that the line and neutral pins should have an insulation sleeve. This plug I found today has seen a few sockets then!!!

Took the top off this plug today to find the earth cable had completely come loose. This is protection for the user from electric shock if a fault was to occur. I see this a lot with appliances that vibrate. This one is PAT tested every year apparently 🤔 there are PAT testers out there that don’t remove the plug tops to check wiring and fuses ⚡️

These kind of issues can be easily rectified on site by chopping the lot off and attaching a British Standard fused 3 pin plug
