When Kress Outdoor Power Equipment asked us to create a planted display showcasing the potential of their living-wall system, we got straight to work.
What started as a trial panel at the Greenfingers nursery quickly developed into a spectacular full-scale display for GroundsFest. 🌱
We loved bringing the concept to life and seeing how the living-wall system could be transformed with carefully selected planting.
The finished result was certainly a sight to behold! 🌿👏

If you have a shady corner that needs a little love, autumn is the perfect time to get some beautiful, shade-loving perennials into the ground. Give them time to settle in now, and they’ll reward you with a fuller, more established display next year.

Some of our favourites:

🍃 Heucheras – fantastic foliage in shades from lime green to deep burgundy, bringing colour even when flowers are scarce.

🌿 Hostas – those gorgeous architectural leaves are hard to beat, with endless varieties, colours and textures to choose from.

🌸 Geraniums – reliable, long-flowering and brilliant for weaving through borders and under trees.

✨ Tricytis 'Pink Freckles' – an underrated beauty for late summer and autumn, with exotic-looking, orchid-like flowers that thrive in dappled shade.

🌱 Alchemilla mollis – soft, frothy foliage and sprays of lime-green flowers that work beautifully alongside almost everything.

Plant now. Let them settle. Enjoy them next year. 🌿

Our Top Plant Picks of the Week 🌿

Three plants we’re loving right now — each bringing something completely different to the garden, but all brilliant for adding texture, structure and long-lasting interest.

🌿 Polystichum setiferum – a beautifully soft, evergreen fern with elegant, arching fronds. Perfect for shady borders and woodland-style planting.

🌾 Miscanthus sinensis – graceful, architectural and full of movement, with tall foliage and feathery flower plumes that look fantastic as the season progresses.

🍂 Heuchera ‘Marmalade’ – a real foliage star, with warm amber, bronze and orange tones that bring colour to the garden even when flowers are fading.

Three very different plants. Three very good reasons to keep planting. 🌱

The return of the pine… and we’re here for it.

Pines are making a comeback in garden design — and we think next year could be their year.

Forget the idea of pines being old-fashioned or overly traditional. Used well, they bring structure, texture and year-round interest, with some fantastic compact forms perfect for modern planting schemes.

Three to watch:

🌿 Pinus mugo ‘Mughus’ – low-growing, rugged and beautifully architectural.

✨ Pinus mugo ‘Ophir’ – compact and golden, with foliage that takes on rich yellow tones in winter.

🌲 Pinus mugo ‘Gnom’ – slow-growing, neat and compact, making it brilliant for smaller gardens and containers.

Evergreen structure. Winter colour. Fantastic texture.

We’re predicting pines are going to be very big in 2027. 🌲

We’ve got new stock arriving throughout September, sourced from some of the very best UK and European growers — and there’s plenty to look forward to.

🍂 Now is the perfect time to plant for autumn — but it’s also about looking ahead.

With warm soil and cooler, damper conditions, plants can get their roots established before winter arrives. Give them this head start now and they’ll be stronger, healthier and ready to put on a show next spring and summer.

From beautiful perennials and grasses to shrubs, evergreens and those harder-to-find varieties, we’ll be bringing in new plants all month long.
