Okay, so let’s just ignore for a moment the fact that it’s mid-August 🤫 and allow us to take you back to July and our favourite reads of the month. It was a bumper one with influences from a certain film and all the emotions covered with tears of both sadness and hilarity. Do swipe to enjoy our reviews and share with us your most enjoyed read of July!

Cassia: Is this a plum? by Dan Ojari. I will never eat a plum ever again in the same way. It’s a joy to see the world differently and for it to be accompanied by beautiful pictures and a generous spoon of humour only makes it more so! I imagine this book will be on our bookshelves for many many many years to come.

Megan: Circe by Madeline Miller is absolutely beautiful. A retelling of the classic Greek myth, it follows Circe, the daughter of the sun god Helios and the Oceanid P***e through her early life, exile and discovery of witchcraft. It is definitely one of my favourite retellings, I love this book!’

Pauline: Roman Mornings by Matson Taylor is a beautiful, unforgettable read. I loved every page. Matson Taylor’s writing is elegant, powerful, and deeply moving—playful and full of warmth in some moments, then quietly profound and heartbreaking in others. It’s the kind of novel that lingers long after you have finished it, reminding you that the smallest moments can shape a lifetime. A book that I won’t forget.

Sarah: Main Characters by Bobby Palmer
Sometimes a book is just unadulterated joy to read and this is one such example. A fresh and original take on the romance genre, this tells the story of Clara and Seb’s relationship purely through the eyes of everyone else around them, be it baristas, friends or colleagues. Beautifully rendered and deliciously addictive, I was so invested in this couple!

Jane: Everything was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt : I LOVED this book so much that as soon as I finished it I wanted to read it again! This is a book about death and how he ends up falling in love with life. Be warned this book will most definitely bring a tear or two to your eye but it is so worth it.

Zoë: the penelopiad by Margaret Atwood
A gripping retelling of Penelope’s side of the classic tale, deeply cont

Discworld Bestiary
Publishing date: 15/10/2026

Pre Order special offer - £25 + P&P (rrp £30!)
Wriggling with insights, crawling with wisdom and lavishly illustrated throughout by Paul Kidby, this gorgeously presented bestiary is your indispensable guide to the creatures and critters of Terry Pratchett's Discworld.

Packed with observations from the Disc's greatest minds—plus a healthy number of interjections from some decidedly less conventional thinkers—it reveals the eating habits of the Ambiguous Puzuma, the proper care of the Terrible Man-Eating Sloth of Clup, and the curious prevalence of ominous ducks in matters of cosmic significance.

With additional notes from Rincewind, Unseen University's reluctant Adjunct Professor of Perplexing Beasts and curator of its curiobiological museum, this utterly addictive companion explores the extraordinary wildlife of the Disc in all its strange, dangerous and frequently ridiculous glory.
