Lots more people to see TR demonstrating hand papermaking today at Coldharbour Mill.

The mill was in steam. Jim hadn't expected to run into John Pitts, but there he was. Begrimed with coal dust, tending the beam engine.

John is a good friend to the business and has given valuable help and advice to us over the last couple of years.

Set-up for papermaking at Coldharbour Mill, north of Exeter. Disappointingly few visitors today. Tomorrow is ' Steampunk Sunday' at the mill. The steam engine will be running and they expect lots of visitors so I will be back in the morning.

Jim will be at Coldharbour Mill. just off the M5 north of Exeter, demonstrating the black art of making paper by hand at 11.00 o'clock tomorrow 24th Oct. Weather permitting of course.

The exhibition continues until the end of the month.

A fascinating exhibition & venue. He hopes to see lots of interested & interesting visitors.

Capturing the warm glow through the lightweight sheets drying in the marble racks. These are 90gsm and have been made especially for the Ludlow Bookbinders Ltd. event this coming weekend. Cotton and linen rag handmade paper in white and a soft blue.

" When I get older/ Losing my hair"

Jim shaving the deckle to make an easier fit. We are making lightweights to take to the Ludlow Fine Book Fair this weekend.

The deckle has been tight, and binds to the mould. As it gives, water drops ..... tears ..... spoil the freshly made wet sheet.

Our October Introductary offer of coloured Half Imperial 200lb rag hand-made tinted Watercolour paper is selling briskly.

But why paint on a coloured ground? These two holiday pictures by Jim's late Father-in-Law, John Smith, illustrate the possibilities nicely. Similar subjects on TR not, but the cream sheet suffuses the village square with warm sunlight. In comparison the left hand painting, on white, is much 'colder'.

If this sort of thing is daunting, white is available too.

Through the last two weeks of October, we will have a display at the ‘Water Water Exposition’ at the Cold Harbour Mill in Devon.
Visitors will be able to buy our paper, and on Saturday 24th Jim will be demonstrating hand paper making throughout the day.

‘WATER WATER’ is a collaborative exhibition bringing together eco-conscious artists, makers and organisations to explore our vital relationship with water. Coldharbour Mill
