On 1st September I shut up shop for Wicks Of Water Orton. There were A LOT of tears and restless nights, but I had to do it as quite frankly, I just can’t do everything. I’ve started a new career journey, that is proving to be a really good move for me and my family, so luckily it looks like I’ve done the right thing. I was faced with continuous price increases from my suppliers, difficulty getting hold of stock, difficulty with the post, and then throw into the mix that my tax bills were just really not making it worth it either. There is so much to be considered when you run a small business. This isn’t forever, once I am settled at work, in the new year of 2023, I plan to reopen WoWo, as ultimately this business is what I absolutely love doing. It’s my passion, my hobby and something that saved me in a very tough time in my life. I will never be able to give it up for good. But for now, I have lot to learn in my new job, so I am being kind to myself and leaving my evenings free and removing a lot of stress from my life.
Through September I had a massive wedding order on, that I had to catch up on, that is now done and dusted.
So now, through October I will be;
A) Finishing and distributing the last subscription box
B) Despatching the last orders made before I closed. I am waiting on actual reeds to be delivered. So as soon as they arrive, I’ll get those orders out.
This does mean, I will not be doing any fayres or events this year. I do not have anything left at all for me to donate for any charity causes.
Have a wonderful Autumn, Winter and Christmas all. It goes without saying that I am thankful for everyone’s support and orders. This decision was not taken lightly at all. So please don’t think it was.
I have a personal Instagram if anyone wants to keep in touch here, or you can find me on Facebook (Donna Shingler).
Lots of love to you all ❤️
