WESTBY SKI JUMP (day 2)
2-7-26 On Sunday, 18 experienced jumpers took flight in the Large Hill Tournament at the Westby Snowflake Ski Jump. Norway's Espen Olsby took first place in the Masters division with the longest distance of 109 meters and total score of 201. Olsby also took first Friday night with the same distance and point total of 209.9.

Sandra Sproch, of Chicago, Ill., set a new women's hill record with a 115 meter jump. It was her first time competing in Westby.

It is with very heavy hearts that we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2026 Whitefish Skijoring event.

Please know this decision was not made lightly. Our board, partners, and volunteers worked tirelessly to try to make this event happen despite an unprecedented warm winter.

Over the past several weeks, we pursued every viable option available to us, including:

• Partnering with the Flathead County Fairgrounds for a last-minute venue change
• Preparing to haul in over 100 truckloads of snow from Blacktail Mountain
• Planning for approximately 4,000 yards of manufactured snow to be produced on site

Unfortunately, continued warm temperatures have completely prevented snowmaking operations. Hauling snow onto soft, unfrozen ground with these warm temperatures would not allow the snow to properly set up, or allow us to safely build and shape a race track and jumps.

With no meaningful change in the forecast, we cannot guarantee safe conditions for our horses, athletes, volunteers, or equipment — or deliver the quality event our community deserves.

Our commitment has always been to host a safe, professional, and high-quality event, and under these conditions that standard cannot be met.

We are truly heartbroken.
