In one of Christopher Fowler's last tweets, he recounts an encounter with a reader who read his memoir "Paperboy" and says, "I suppose this means you’ve led a more interesting life than the rest of us." To which he replies (with characteristic wit), "I’ve led an ordinary life but I write about it more interestingly." Mr. Fowler (1953–2023) was anything but ordinary, but we won't argue with him on the point of penning work that captured our imaginations.
