I’m delighted to have noticed some new followers recently - hello, welcome and thank you ❤️ and so I thought it was about time I introduced myself properly and explained a bit more about my little business…
I’m Vicki – Shop owner, up-cycler, lover of all things vintage/pre-loved, chicken keeper and mum to Beatrice (the shop’s namesake).
I trained as a florist after A-Levels and have been working since I was 17. I sold my first dried flower arrangement at age 11 and love incorporating flowers and plants into the shop wherever I can.
A career change in 2015 led to working for a chain of second-hand shops which cemented my love for up-cycling, I was overwhelmed by the amount of waste being discarded. From furniture to fabrics, so many things kept coming came home with me to save them from landfill…. hence, the idea for Green Bee Trading was born.
I love finding things and bringing them back to life. If an item is too far gone, either myself, my incredible husband Tim or my dad Ian (a regular in the shop), will have a go at taking it back to its bare bones and turning it into something new.
If I’m not in the shop you will generally find me cleaning items, up-cycling, sanding or painting in the yard.
I love colour and am always experimenting with the rails and shelves to make the shop feel welcoming, cheerful and full of life.
Running this business alongside 2 autoimmune conditions means I do have to do things a little differently. I’ve learned to adapt, keep going, meet challenges with a smile and to make time for kindness. Thank you all for embracing my 11am opening time ❤️ Hopefully this goes some way to explaining why.
Welcome to my journey and thanks for reading!
Vicki ❤️
