🥵 Watering your plants in this heatwave? ☀️When temperatures soar, your garden needs the right watering routine. Watering at the wrong time can actually harm your plants or waste water. Here are our top tips to keep your garden thriving this week:💦
⏰ Timing is Everything
Water early in the morning or late in the evening. This gives the water time to soak into the soil before the sun evaporates it. Avoid midday watering!
🌱 Aim for the Roots
Water the base of the plant, not the leaves. Wet leaves in hot sun can scorch, and damp foliage overnight can encourage fungal diseases.
⏳ Drench Deeply and Less Often
A thorough, deep soak every few days is much better than a light sprinkle every day. Deep watering encourages roots to grow further down, making plants more drought-resilient.
🪵 Mulch
Add a layer of bark chips or compost around your plants. This acts like a blanket, keeping the soil cool and trapping moisture inside.
🏡 Check Your Pots
Container plants and hanging baskets dry out incredibly fast in high temperatures. They may need watering twice a day—once in the morning and once in the evening.
Stay cool out there! 🧊
