A little of this week’s highlights down on North Street 💛

✨ The arrival of all the shelf based festive delights. There are some gorgeous things this year, come in and stock up early or reserve now for collection nearer the time. These will also be available for online order later this week ✨

This Saturday is International Repair Day so we are making it easier for you to sort out those garments that have been in need of a fix! 🙌

From 11-2 the amazing Jo from Slow and Circular Upcycling Studio will be on hand upstairs at the shop to work her magic. ✨ She will be doing small on the spot repairs or taking away larger projects for you to come back and collect. 🧵 🪡
Jo will also will be sharing her wealth of knowledge along with our fabulous library of books to get the inspiration flowing!

Here’s a delicious way to serve some of our focaccia 😋

🍃 Focaccia with spinach, burrata stracciatella and sun blush tomatoes 🍃

Sauté spinach with a splash of extra virgin olive oil and garlic, for 3-4 minutes then top the focaccia with it.

Open up the burrata to release the creamy stracciatella before seasoning it with salt and pepper then scattering over some sunblush or slow roasted tomatoes.

Until our next fresh focaccia arrival we have some in the freezer, prepare it first from frozen in the oven at 180• for 15-20 minutes, keeping the foil on until the last 5. 👍

There has been a fair bit of interest in grappa at the shop recently. 😊

Grappa is classed as a spirit or digestif and is made by distilling the grape pomace (leftover skins, pulp, seeds, and stems) remaining from the winemaking process. Its flavour depends on the grape variety used and it can also be infused with herbs or fruits. 🍇

Traditionally grappa is served straight in small tulip-shaped glasses after a meal. It can also be combined with coffee, either within an espresso or swirled in the empty cup at the end to rinse out and drink the remaining drops. ☕️

Fab to see our hub in Wellington getting a little mention within this article from the BBC News! 🙌 The piece explains more about the wider initiative behind what was happening. Slow and Circular Upcycling Studio and I will be following the progress of this new South West project with great excitement and hopefully finding opportunities for our lovely town to be involved 💚

The initiative will involve year-round clothing swaps, repair cafes and upcycling workshops.

As Wellington’s first ever Sustainable Fashion Week concludes, Jo and I would like to thank everyone who was a part of it 💚 Whether you planned or ran a workshop, hosted us, came to an event, helped out or spread the word, we are so grateful. 🥰 We hope you enjoyed it and have been as inspired as we have. We have lots of ideas to build upon over the coming months to bring more opportunities of this kind to our community so please do get in touch if you’d like to be part of the Re:Style Wellington project in the future ♻️

UpMarket is well underway, thank you to everyone who has called in so far to see what it’s all about. It is the final week at the Wellington Hub for Sustainable Fashion Week with three fab events coming your way 💚

⭐ On Thursday you can learn to use stamps for customising clothing with Alex Williams Illustration.

⭐ Spend Friday night finding your most flattering colours to wear with Style by Louise

Both workshops take place at Pure Yoga in Tonedale and spaces are still available to book through Slow and Circular Upcycling Studio

⭐ Our finale will be in Wellington town centre at the Quaker Meeting House on Saturday with the UpMarket indoor market. Come along to browse and shop upcycled textiles and pre-loved fashion, as well as stopping for a moment with some refreshments and a read through our slow fashion library.
