Spadework is a charity that was founded in 1984 that enables people to be more independent, feel less isolated and live happier, healthier and more fulfilling lives. Our aim is to support trainees to develop their personal skills through social interaction with the community and experience of working in a commercial environment as they help to run our plant nursery, garden centre, log deliveries, farm shop and café.

Our Garden Centre team have been busy creating these beautiful seasonal pots and baskets this week!🌸🌿

They’ve put together a fantastic selection of arrangements, combining different plants to bring plenty of colour and interest to your garden, and they’re all available to buy in our Garden Centre now!

And did you know, our team can also plant up your own pots and hanging baskets for you? Simply bring your empty containers along and our Garden Centre team can work their magic as part of our planting service.

A HUGE Spadework THANK YOU to Fernham Homes and everyone who took part in their Big Site Walk last Friday, completing an amazing 23 miles in support of Spadework!🥾✨

Battling the weather and some very tired legs, the team took on this brilliant challenge and have already raised a fantastic £713 for Spadework.

We are incredibly grateful to the whole team for taking on such a brilliant challenge for Spadework. Fernham Homes continue to be fantastic supporters of our charity, always finding new ways to get involved, raise funds and support what we do. We’re very lucky to have such a great partnership with them and really appreciate everything the team does for Spadework.

We know some of you will say it’s too early... but at Spadework, it’s never too early to start making Christmas decorations!🎅🏻☃️🎄

Our Woodwork Team are already getting into the festive spirit, with our Trainees busy creating a brilliant selection of handmade Christmas decorations.

They’ve been making snowmen, Christmas trees and Father Christmas logs, perfect for decorating the centre of your Christmas table or adding a festive touch around the house.

Each one is being made from scratch by our Trainees, giving them the opportunity to develop their woodworking skills while getting creative with their own festive designs.

And with Christmas still a few months away, we can’t wait to see what else they create between now and December!

The Spadework Tuck Shop is open for business🍕🥗

Our Trainees have been busy in the kitchen getting everything ready for our Trainees, Staff and Volunteers to enjoy at lunchtime, and there’s already a queue forming to see what’s on the menu!

Today’s Tuck Shop is packed with some fantastic homemade treats, including pizzas, sausage rolls, tasty cakes, refreshing salads and plenty more.

From preparing and cooking the food to getting everything ready for the Tuck Shop, it’s a great opportunity for our Trainees to put their kitchen and life skills into practice while making something for everyone at Spadework to enjoy.

There’s certainly plenty to choose from today... the hardest part is deciding what to have! 😋

There’s been lots of creativity in our Purple Room over the last few weeks!🎨 ✨

Our Trainees have been working on lots of different projects covering a whole range of themes, including pets, hobbies and holidays.

They’ve been getting creative making models of their own pets, crafting planes ready to jet off on holiday, and recreating some of their favourite holiday destinations! ✈️🐾🏖️

Each theme gives our Trainees the chance to explore their own interests and experiences, try different materials and techniques, and put their own personality into everything they create.

We’ve loved seeing all the different ideas come to life in the Purple Room!
