Someone asked me the other day whether Grandpa Nick has a message. Now, I personally don’t need a picture book to offer my children some indirect message about how to be a better person but it just so happens that Grandpa Nick does have a message between the lines… The character Grandpa Nick was based on my own grandfather who suffered from Dementia. At the time I was a child and didn’t really understand why grandpa thought I was called Lara or why he kept his reading glasses in the fridge!! It’s confusing for little people! The message in Grandpa Nick is that our beloved grandparents get old and forgetful. Sometimes they get sick. It’s a sad reality. But they are still there somewhere and they still love us!!!

I can’t put in to words how I feel when I see our book sitting on a shelf in a shop surrounded by other beautiful books. I’m very grateful to all the shops that kindly agreed to take a chance on Grandpa Nick. This particular picture is taken from the gift shop at West Dean Gardens near Chichester. If you’ve never been and live locally, it’s a truly beautiful place and well worth the visit!

1 WEEK TO GO!!!!!!!!!!!🎄🎄🎅❄️⛄️I’m starting to get quite excited and ever so slightly nervous. I’ve never done this before but it’s been a really interesting learning process and I’m constantly discovering things that I’d do differently next time!

We had a bit of a tense week trying to get the UK book delivery out of customs 😬 but after hours of chat with a parcel force lady called Kelly we got there in the end!! Phew!
