We've been very busy attending calls for collections to do with our secure storage solution All over the south east and up to the peak district. While catching up with social media, and looking at a Danish pastry... I read a rather heated and post, and Like an idiot, I added a comment to the thread on a public forum. About the failings of the Fi****ms licensing, and it went bad straight away... I got moderated and had my reply and the whole thread was deleted... Not sure what that means but it struck me that perhaps I should post my thoughts and how the shooting sports are seen in the wider public space.

Just a thought, Why would a government that has no budget, to equip our armed forces. Waste money on a new and better system. For people it would appear it does not want to have access to guns..? Worse the approx 500k license holders (lumping FAC and SGC into one group) of which 70% are 60+years old, suggests, if it takes 5+ years to agree, legislate, develop, test, implement and train the new service providers. Who are external to the police but answers to both the Police and Home Office and takes all the lessons from previous mistakes "fairly" into account. The elephant in the room is this, the largest body of "service users" aka the by then “geriatric gunmen” of the UK will more than likely be dead…! The users in the age groups 17-35 who would have the largest and longest benefit. Is only 11% of the current users, according to the governments own website. this is of the total number of users rounded down to make the numbers simpler. An efficient government that wants rid of "legal users of fi****ms" would simply ban the lot, at this revelation. As the numbers of active users suggests, the sport has effectively died out. Based on current data! Sounds drastic but it’s more probable, than the current government would spend any time and effort on a better system for law abiding people. It appears to actively discriminates against. It would seem more probable, the current government would organise and run a festival for left handed, none- violent fruitarians… to be more DEI than do anything positive for lawful, compliant fi****ms users, competitive shooters, prospective Olympians, the trade, collectors, re-enactment societies or historical researchers and defence manufacturing… just my take on a story that is unlikely to ever conclude in a positive outcome piece of news. addendum (surrey armoury fully supports left handed, none violent fruitarianism and furthermore does not condone the discrimination of this as yet unrecognised under represented group of society in it's struggle to be heard, to be better accepted for their beliefs and rights in a modern democratic system in which we all live....)

And we’ve now had the most complex deployment to date. It’s still going on, some 48 hours later. It's now rapidly becoming a multi agency issue. The old couple have been under the radar of social care at our guess at least 3/4 years, the license holder shows signs of dementia/ malnourishment. His wife is well advanced on that path. There's signs of abuse, she's frustrated at the modern world and so shouting him down, as she is unwell or unsettled by it all. Worse The husband can't deal with it, and is taking the brunt of her anger. His sporting equipment is now secure, but there's a whole family that needs far more than we can do. This really extends way past our remit. We had no choice their kids are also well into retirement age, so walking wounded at best.... They've tried to care but it's a position of being overwhelmed by the workload, as they are themselves elderly and in need of help....

We've had to remain on site to hand this over in some sort of order, to local care/ welfare team. Just to be clear this hasn't been a police issue, it's very simple we had been asked to store the kit and the situation has developed around our deployment... We can't leave it half done, it would be irresponsible.
