If you've ever walked on the Cinder Track from Whitby you'll be familiar with this viaduct. Trains used to pass over it before the coastal track was closed down. Well underneath that viaduct is a whole other world... the River Esk flows from Ruswarp and the Esk Valley Line passes here on its way to Middlesbrough. Whether you've walked to footpath over or under the viaduct you will surely have been in awe of the sheer size of it... and all tucked away from the main drag of Whitby!

Occasionally a customer sends us a photo of their recent purchase in situ - here's one such photo!

The painting is 'Shore' by Paul Freeman, it measures just over 1 metre square and we think it looks fabulous in Carol's room.

Paul paints from memory and feeling after spending time observing a place. He is a keen sea fisherman and knows the water well. The light peeping through the clouds and highlighting the water on this particular day created the perfect inspiration.

It was a foreboding sky over Whitby early this morning but we're pleased to say it has brightening up ... for now!

If you've got high ceilings its always worth thinking of alternatives to 'a huge picture' to decorate your walls - these often just make your room look unbalanced.

Personally we love how these two florals by Anne Fryers look displayed in a non conventional way.

They certainly work well here to make this corner look fresh and inviting.

We can't wait to see the finished piece but in the meantime its a real privilege to see an artist's work in progress and Lisa Marie Art & Illustration is here again to show us how she builds the image. It shows the hours of work that goes into one painting ... not to mention the planning of an original idea, the photographing, the framing, the promoting, the distribution and the selling. Now that's a whole lot of work you get for your buck!
