⭐ A big good luck to Whitchurch Nursery & Preschool who are taking part in their Ready, Steady, Listen event next week ⭐

Children at Whitchurch Nursery & Preschool will be sponsored by their friends and family to listen to as many stories and nursery rhymes as possible throughout the week at nursery and home to raise money to help their nursery gain lots of Usborne book for all babies and children to enjoy ☺️

Not only that, but Usborne will also donate up to 60% extra free books on top! Imagine the impact this would have to help develop early literacy skills!

Did you know…2026 is the National Year of Reading which is an initiative launched by the Department for Education in partnership with the National Literacy Trust with the aim to inspire more babies, children and adults to regularly read for pleasure 📚

If a child in your family is participating in this literacy challenge, your support would be greatly appreciated 💛

✨And if you are a local business who would like to get involved to support, please feel free to message this page or contact the nursery

📩 Would your nursery or school like to take part in their own free literacy challenge? Drop us a message, we would love to tell you more!

🎄Can you support babies, children and young people this Christmas?

Lainey’s Little Bookshelf is proud to be fundraising for The Christmas Smile Project this year to help bring a little joy to babies and children experiencing hardship at Christmas.

🎅🏻 The Christmas Smile Project is a registered charity who support families in need since 2013 and we have seen first hand what an amazing charity this is and the work they do entirely run by volunteers.

📚We would like to donate children’s books and activity books to those in need, especially to end the National Year of Reading in such a lovely way to develop early literacy skills and spread the love of reading with as many children as possible.

Over the past year, we have been building a small stash of brand new books to donate, but it would be even more special if we could donate even more!

💛If you or your business can help with our fundraising it would be greatly appreciated and we will donate an additional 10% on top of all funds raised plus any commission will be donated.

Please like and share this post even if you aren’t in a position to donate as we would love to spread the word far and wide!

Iʼm raising money to Help babies, children and young people this Christmas. Support this JustGiving Crowdfunding Page.

📚💛 You’re never too young to start reading! 💛📚

Did you know that sharing books with your baby can have benefits long before they can say their first word?

Reading together from an early age helps babies and children:
✨ Build their vocabulary and language skills
✨ Develop listening and communication skills
✨ Understand emotions and the world around them
✨ Strengthen their imagination and creativity
✨ Develop a love of stories and learning
✨ Build a special bond with the adults reading to them
✨ Develop important early literacy skills that support them when they start school

And the best part? You don't need to make it complicated! ❤️

And remember… reading doesn't have to mean sitting perfectly still with a book for 20 minutes!
Read a few pages. Look at pictures. Make up a story. Read in the bath. Read in the car. Read while cuddled up on the sofa. Let them turn the pages. Let them interrupt. Let them laugh.

❤️Those little moments add up.

You don't have to be a teacher to support your child's reading journey — you just have to share a book with them.📚🥰

What is your child's favourite book at the moment? 👇💬
