Last weeks calves all settled in castrated, vaccinated and drinking on their own from the automatic feeder. With 100 calves being fed we can see exactly how much each individual calf is drinking and not having to guess if any aren’t drinking enough or too much. If any aren’t drinking their full allocation it generally points to them having a health issue. These calves will be given antibiotics and 12 hours later they should be back to drinking their full allocation of milk. So identified, treated and back to health before they get noticeable ill which helps to keep our mortality very low .
