A MESSAGE TO ALL OUR CUSTOMERS
As you will no doubt be aware, the Government is keen to start non essential businesses reopening from Monday 15th June.
Due to the Covid-19 situation, that opening will be limited to a new way of working, so listed below is our current working procedures going forward for the different aspects of our business.
The Music Box Shop Café – The café will remain closed with the exception of takeaway tea and coffee, which can be purchased and consumed away from the premises. The takeaway service is done on a one in one out basis, so please only one customer to enter the shop at a time. If more than one person is present / waiting, please form an orderly queue leaving at least 2 metres apart, in order to comply with social distancing. Where possible, we would encourage the use of contactless payment. We do have facilities to take cash if required.
Whitchurch Village Store – As customers that have visited us over recent weeks will be aware, the Village Store has replaced the café within the front part of our retail shop. This continues as normal on a one in one out system, queueing and payment requirements as above please.
The Music Box Shop – For both music box products and musical shop products, we can no longer offer the ‘retail shop’ experience as our premises is just too small to operate with 2 metre social distancing. However, for simple sales like leads and guitar strings etc. these can be bought in store on the same system as products from the Village Store.
However, for larger products such as guitars, ukuleles, amps etc. these must be purchased by prior arrangement on a pre booked pick up system. If you wish to purchase a guitar or other instrument, or a music box, please telephone or email us to discuss and arrange your purchase. Once we have confirmed your order, we will arrange a pre determined time for your pick up. Our websites are operating as normal and all of our music boxes and other products can be purchased direct online for home delivery.
If you wish to bring an instrument in for repair, this will take longer than it used to. Firstly please again telephone to make an appointment to bring your instrument in for drop off. We cannot accept impromptu visits. Once dropped off, the instrument will be quarantined for 4 days before it is look at or repaired.
Your instrument will then be sanitised and cleaned. Whilst working on your instrument we will use PPE as applicable. Due to the extra work involved in the processing of your repair, all repairs and restringing etc. will be charged at the minimum cost of £30.00 to cover the extra time to deal with the repair / restring safely, the cleaning products used and any PPE required. Should your repair / restring cost above the minimum due to time / parts required, you will be advised accordingly.
Once it is repaired, we will contact you to arrange collection of your instrument at a specific time. You will be asked to drop off and collect the instrument at one of our Workshop entrances now, rather than the main shop.
Mechanical Organ Service Repair & Tuning – Please note that currently we are unable to carry out outside tuning and repair work at customers’ premises due to hotels remaining closed.
We can carry out work at our premises but this must be by appointment only. Any instrument brought in has to be quarantined for 4 days before work can be carried out on it, so lead times will be longer.
Our working practices will be reviewed in line with the Government guidance and updated accordingly, and we are planning to make further alterations to our shop premises to allow for ease of operation, but this will take time over the coming months so please bear with us as we find new ways of working through the current situation.
